I am trying very hard to resist a Cold Turkey joke but alas…

What do vegetarians do on Thanksgiving? Is it like Christmas here, where we traditionally have to endure nut roast?

Happy Thanksgiving Zig and all Canadian guys in the forum!!
I also thought I had lost a month when I saw that headline, I have my students make turkeys of cardboard and feathers. We don't celebrate Thanksgiving at all in Mexico. But we do have Day of Death on November 1st… tamalest feast!!!
Here comes the sun….. Scoobie-doobie……

I'm not Canadian (although Maine might as well be in Canada!) – I just wanted to wish all of those from The Great White North a happy holiday.
Isn't there a holiday in Mexico tomorrow? I seem to recall seeing something about “Día de la Raza”.
As for the Day of Death, you mentioned tamales? If you eat tamales all day on November 1, I'm in. When my wife and I lived in Phoenix, we had a Mexican neighbor who gave us a dozen homemade tamales every year for Christmas. They were still warm when she brought them over to us. YYYUUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!

What? No Tofurky? This sounds like it might be good: Rosemary-Roasted Winter Root Vegetables.
Ad hoc, ad loc, and quid pro quo! So little time! So much to know!

About dia de la Raza, yeah but it's not that celebrated anymore. It seems somebody realized that many Mexican and American natives were killed during La Conquista, so now it's a low key celebration. Now we call it “the Encounter of Two Worlds”
Of course I eat Tamales, my sister and I prepare at least 70 for all the family, with chicken or red meat, and for the non-meat lovers, our killer cheese with coriander and green pepper tamales. We also prepare sweet ones with raisin and pineapple. I always gain at least 2 kilos.
BTW In the university last year we set up an altar and we dedicate it to John Lennon
