The Minecraft Movie is a cinematic masterpiece. It's up there with Rocky Horror, Yellow Submarine
, and Gnomeo & Juliet. The deep parodying nature of the Minecraft movie pushes the boundaries of what we expected from such a movie. The emotion in Jack Black's voice when he delivers famous lines like "I am Steve", "Flint n' Steel" "The Nether" cannot be compared to anything else. They are on another level. The idea that a man is so bored with his life of selling door knobs that he leaves his job to go into the mines and inadvertently opens a portal to a better life is such a great analogy for escapism. Then when other struggling people find the same portal they too fall into escapism. We as the audience can see that Steve has changed after years of being away in his blocky world (and also held prisoner in the Nether). He his most changed by the loss of his dog Denis. It's the crack in his perfect world once he escapes. Then as the film progresses we get to see how the characters truly are as people. It teaches us that even the most corrupt of people can still be redemed with a little help from their friends (Unless they're a bad dancer).
