So Parlance are you taking this on board and organising it? It would be great if you were.

It’s no problem. I just didn’t want to take it on completely if you were keen.

I know it’s a couple months off, but I’d like to suggest announcing awards before most people go on their school breaks. So…mid December? Either that, or vote and announce first week of January.

My suggestion would be to stick close to Mr. Sun King ‘s original timetable. I would give a closing date for PM votes to be received by you as 31 December with results in the first week of January.

Yeah, I like that idea, but maybe I’ll give people a week or two to vote so we can get as many voting as possible, including the students. The first one was announced on Christmas, and I would think most people are away from their computers.

I would suggest that people are allowed to PM their votes between 1-31 December. It gives a good few weeks for people to get their votes in, and in most cases I should imagine most people would pretty much know where their votes are going to go. That’s why I suggested a closing date, I always presumed you’d have got most in by then – if not all.

Can’t the votes be open for the first 2 weeks or so of December, close the week before Christmas, and the results given first week of January? Would give time to finalise the categories, folks have a deadline so its not left lingering for months and not during the real traumatic period, and then a couple of weeks for Parlance to tally them up. Little rush and avoid the 8/10 days of Christmas and New Year.

And have the thread stuck so folks can see it and it doesn’t get lost.

^ I am going to avoid the trauma as much as possible this year and have a ‘humbug’ Christmas – so should be fully available for vote-rigging, taking bribes and so on.

I wasn’t debating the closing date, just saying I’d like to give people more time. Voting throughout December sounds fine, I can tally as I go, so there won’t be any rush. I hope lurkers vote, but if not, I certainly won’t be overwhelmed. And then I’ll announce first week of January.

We should probably open eligible entries to December 2012-November 2013 then.

Sounds good Parlance.a-hard-days-night-john-5

I too am very willing to receive Beatle related bribes from folk to rigg the votes and ensure the individual who offers the most gets my vote(s). No offer is too large but could certainly be deemed too small. I have no morals and will sleep far more confortably at night with my Beatles shoelaces, rubber stamp, pillowcase (smallest offers) or books, dvds, signed LP’s, original memorabilia, meeting with Paul, staying for a fortnight with Ringo.apple01

I’m currently holding out for anything official Beatles (so nobody gives me that George headblue-meanie) but come nearer the time i’ll happily be open to curly-wurly’s, irn bru & roast beef monster munch, especially as sweetners to the deal.a-hard-days-night-john-6

Think of the joy at the announcement that best poster is Sky666, the delight you would feel, the emotion of being the best poster of the Beatles Bible 2012/13, the acclaim. I can help you achieve that, make your dream come true. And all for an official Beatles toast scraper.a-hard-days-night-john-5

Probably not too happy since you just associated Sky999 with the mark of the beast. ;-D (Sorry, I had to.)

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8Ah, erm.  I’ll throw in two extra categories for free and she can forget the curly wurly. Can’t say fairer than that.

Actually according to an episode of QI the number of the beast is not 666 anyway soa-hard-days-night-paul-11

I quite like the number 666 just because how scared people become of it. I shall change my name to sky666 now. a-hard-days-night-paul-5

Well, see it worked out for everyone, then. ;->

BTW, if anyone has suggestions for other categories, I’ll take them until November 30.

My wife recently attended a paranormal festival with her sister. She booked her flight/hotel through one of those sites that helps you do both at the same time. Her total bill for air fare and hotel was $666.13. It did not scare her either.

Nice to see someone picking up the baton on the awards now that mr.S is MIA. Thanks parlance. mal-evans

When I was a teenager working at a fast food restaurant the total I rung up for a lady came out to be $16.66. Although it had the one in front of it, the lady freaked out and added another item just so it wouldn’t be “666”.  She was like “you probably think I am weird”. I didn’t say anything, but I found it quite hilarious. All that over a number!   Ironically, the last three numbers on my debit card are 666 and I didn’t order it that way. :D

From what I have seen there is some debate about the translation, or even mention of a particular number, in that part of the bible.  666 is just the folklore.

Ah, thanks – missed that one.  I’d claim it is early in the morning but it is past 11 and I’ve had my coffee so no excuses.
