I’ve had to get rid of some books to make space for my Beatles and Elvis obsessions, but there are some I would never part with. When you get to be my age (44) you begin to realize there is no need for certain books that you will just never read, and you were keeping for 20 years just in case.

My books are mainly religion, philosophy, metaphysics/the occult, history, poetry, art (especially medeival/illuminated manuscripts), popular culture/music.

Any more boxes I dream of getting? Sure, several! Definitely will buy that Dylan “Basement Tapes” box when I find a reasonably priced copy. And someday I’ll find the (sadly out-of-print) “Miles Davis: The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965”, all 8CDs of it. (Because I need more Miles.)

…oh, and I think I’d REALLY love to have that huge Mozart brick of @trcanberra ‘s!

Ha ha – it IS pretty awesome – 170 CDs! It is mostly with period instruments as well which I like as I have about 80 of the CDs on modern instruments separately. The set is around $200 on Amazon US – I bought it a few years ago from Amazon France for around $50 delivered!!

And thanks @The John I was looking for a list like that.

170 cds!! Wouldn’t call that a brick, i’d call it a house. How do you get it from one room to the other as it must weigh a ton?

With great care – have to watch out for my back at my age :)

It is another reason that I have so much difficulty listening to my other CDs – I have been reading a detailed Mozart biography and trying to listen to each CD in order as I get to that part of his life in the book. He is around 11 years old just now and about to write his first oratorio, his first opera will come at 12. Plus I’m still working through the Dylan box and trying to catch up on solo Beatles.

Nice – it has some good previously unreleased tracks on it.

I’ve acquired a few more Beethoven boxes since I last posted here – complete piano sonatas by Bernard Roberts (11 cds),  complete violin sonatas and other violin works featuring Isaac Stern (9 cds), a 5 disc box of piano variations and bagatelles played by Alfred Brendel, and another fiver of various chamber works.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.
