Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs by Marty Robbins is an awesome album, and one I really need to revisit.

I'll second Dingle Lad's praise of the Burns "Country" doc series. I learned a great deal, those musicians have such interesting stories. (And I thought of meanmistermustard everytime Emmylou Harris was mentioned). Well worth watching.

One day, a tape-op got a tape on backwards, he went to play it, and it was all "Neeeradno-undowarrroom" and it was "Wow! Sounds Indian!"

Which was very often. I've had a crush on her since I was 12. My first adult female star crush My mom played Elite Hotel like crazy.

Emmylou is incredible, easily one of the best singers I have ever heard. I prefer 'Pieces of the Sky' over 'Elite Hotel', mainly due to 'Before Believing, which is quoted in my signature, but it's very close. Cannot speak highly enough of her. 'Before Believing' is such a perfect song, was so happy when I found a live version of it, and it's significantly different to the released one.

a-hard-days-night-ringo-8 I remember my first days on the forum I used to see the quote in mmm's signature and think "that's a cool name". Now here I am, three years on and happy to have discovered her music, which I did through the great Gram Parsons. My favourite album of Emmylou's is probably Luxury Liner. I've watched a lot of the televised concerts she did with The Hot Band around the time of that album (all up on YouTube) and there's just so many great songs and covers on it!

And don't worry, Dingle Lad, you're not alone in the crush club... a-hard-days-night-paul-7
