Nilsson. I’m planning to do a chronological listen to all of his albums soon, but I’m loving the few odd songs I’ve heard already (Without Her, Me And My Arrow, Gotta Get Up etc.) And can’t wait to get onto Pussy Cats, an album produced by our very own John Lennon …

I’ve been working my way through David Bowie’s discography for about a year now, and recently I’ve been really getting into his last few albums (because I’m almost done, just Blackstar to listen to and I’ll have wrapped up — I’m planning to do it on either the 8th or the 10th, not sure which, maybe both).
26 out of 27. I feel so accomplished.

Me and My Arrow always makes me so happy. Makes me want to get a dog and call it Arrow so I can sing that song to it as we go walking. (Similar to my plans to name a cat Sheena so she can be a punk rocker).

I want to get a dog, name it Beethoven, and teach it to roll over purely so I can have the pleasure of saying “Roll Over Beethoven !”

And to stay on topic, I’ve already posted about it but I listened to Comfortably Numb today. Which is new for me.

Gear. Not as gear as the Beatles (if I don’t say that I will spontaneously combust right now) but still good. Beatlebug was right about the guitar.

But QuarryMan… don’t you want to name a dog Martha?!
Queen’s song makes me want to name a cat Delilah, even though I don’t particularly like that name.
Back on topic, I just yesterday finished my year-long oddyssey through the studio discography of David Bowie, and I feel both fabulously accomplished and an odd sense of relief.
I’ve also been getting into Queen a little bit lately, though I was putting off getting into them properly until I’d finished Bowie — so I suppose that the time is now.

I’m currently up to Nilsson Sings Newman in my binge, but so far my favourite album has been the previous one before that, Harry. Nearly every track (including a great version of Mother Nature’s Son , the best of all his Beatles covers IMO) I’ve listened to again three times today, but out of them all, I absolutely adore this song in particular:
(P.S. My new signature is a nod to both Nilsson and Ringo!)

Bold of you to assume I’ll only have one dog
Back on topic, as well as Sleater-Kinney which I mentioned in another thread, I’m also trying to get through the discography of Julia Holter. For those who might be interested, she’s a folk/chamber pop/electronic/experimental composer and singer-songwriter, who has put out some amaaaazing albums all through this decade.
My favourite of the lot has to be 2015’s Have You In My Wilderness, it’s so dreamy and blissful. Here’s the first track, I would also recommend ‘Silhouette’ and ‘Sea Calls Me Home’.

The YouTube algorithm had been pestering me to listen to this album over the last few days and so last night I finally gave in. And wow, I really love how soothing and gentle the whole thing is. The backstory to this album in the description is a very interesting read also.

Funny this thread should come up now, because just yesterday I discovered Lana Del Rey and Kate Bush and I think I would like to hear more from them. 🙂

Haven’t necessarily “discovered” so much as “rediscovered” Elton John and Steely Dan with a little Fleetwood Mac on the side.
