Brian and Sir George stand above all of the other fifth Beatles, as they are much more important. George Martin’s musical contributions are almost as important as any of the Fab Four. Once Brian died, the band quickly began to fall apart without a trustworthy insider managing EVERYTHING himself.

With this being said, Stu, Pete, Billy, Tony, and perhaps Jimmi Nicol and Andy White are 5th Beatles because the were band members, whereas GM and BE’s roles superceded being a mere member of the band. It is for this reason I wouldn’t count Mal or Neil.

I forgot to ask did anyone else get the official White Album calendar this year? They put a fierce effort into it, it looks like a record! Much better than last year’s Sgt. Pepper ‘s.

Although, the fools who design it had the perfect opportunity YET AGAIN to make February, George’s month, June- Paul’s, July- Ringo’s, October-John’s but nope yet again they’ve put the ‘postcard’ photos all over the place.

I have a Beatles calendar, too. (Not the White Album one, I didn’t even know that was a thingpaul-mccartney) I kinda thought they might put Beatley birthdays on there like holidays but noooooo.

Best wishes of the season to everyone on the BB from HKL and I.

We are just getting to the serious part of our partner visa application (medicals this coming week) and wading through paperwork to get a HK security clearance for HKL (difficult when she’s no longer there ).

Otherwise all well down here. My work contract was extended to March and HKL has made lots of friends.

I got one. I was really surprised to see that it was record-like, as the last two I had were both the same-old square ones. a-hard-days-night-george-9 And I had no idea that there was a Sgt. Pepper calendar! The 2017 I have is a regular Beatles one. a-hard-days-night-paul-10

It’s the 1st of November, you know what this means?

IT’S ASJ’S 5TH ANNUAL REOPENING OF THE CHRISTMAS THREAD WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Only 54 days to go guys and gals.

This year’s opening question:

Do you/does/did your family have any traditions that they would do on Christmas Eve, or in the few days on the run up to Christmas?

Yes, we do – my aunt and I always cook a pavlova together on or just before Christmas Eve.

Anyone else have any traditions?

I found a lovely piano compilation of traditional Christmas hymns. Unfortunately, it’s only about 26 mins long and then it loops but it’s still very pretty and good for studying or sleeping.

Well, I don’t really have any traditions close to Grrr-rimble… and about the only one I do have actually happens during the first weekend of November which – lo and behold! – is almost upon us. Though which day of the weekend it will be nor what time of day or night it will occur is certain, at some stage I will…

…plug in my clippers and perform the second of my guaranteed biannual shearings of the beard. The second occurs because it is quite a substantial beard, think John 1969, and it is now largely white, and I don’t wanna spend the next two months being called Father Christmas as I go from here to there and back again.

I don’t know if we have one thing we do every year, but these are some of our traditions:

Seeing the ice sculptures at the Gaylord hotel.

Seeing the holiday model train exhibit at North Park Mall.

Seeing a performance of the Nutcracker.

Pulling up to the entrance of the world’s longest Christmas light tunnel, waiting in line, getting impatient, and leaving before we get to see anything.

Seeing the trees all lit up at Vitruvian Park.

Mass on Christmas morning.

A fire in the fireplace on Christmas Eve.

Favorite Christmas movies:

Elf

Bad Santa

Pee Wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special

Rudolph with Burl Ives

Miracle on 34th Street (the original)

The Bishop’s Wife

Christmas Vacation

White Christmas

Even at 66 and alone I try to keep to some traditions…..I love Christmas

Last Saturday in November Tree goes up.

Most Christmases Santa doesn’t see it ……..But I do.

Start my listening to my ‘Christmas playlist’ on my iPod…..I’ll add Clapton’s new one this year

Sometime or other over the,  ‘Tis the season to be jolly’…watch ‘Love Actually’……Always find myself smiling. Often stick on a Bond film, a Morecambe and Wise special and Dell Boy of course.

Christmas morning, if it falls on a week day I go to immigration and get my visa for the year……The staff are all dressed as Santa and more busy taking selfies than being picky over paperwork. No one else there, no lines  takes 10 mins.

Gym……Beach

Christmas dinner in a friend’s restaurant.

Make and receive some calls to UK.

That’s most of the traditions.

Oh because I start so early tree comes down Boxing day……

I’ll be anticipating my son coming over in January bringing a Super Deluxe White Album ……….

Maybe this Christmas time we could do something cool like a secret Santa or something.

I do one in rl every year and it could be a cool fun thing to do. I’d be willing to organize it if people are interested.
