Why there was no April Fool’s Prank this year:
Back in late February, I asked Annadog40 if she had an April Fool’s Day Prank planned yet. She said she didn’t. I said that I had a rough idea, but no specifics. I thought that we could do something that played off the running joke that ewe2 is everybody. AD40 suggested that we each chose a number to change our usernames to and change our avatars. Let’s say that the prank was “Story by Necko, Written by Annadog40.” I was to be ewe3.14. We got many other users to go along with us.
The plan changed when the whole off-topic and name-switching controversy happened a couple days ago. We decided that the plan we had for April Fool’s wouldn’t work anymore and we didn’t want to irk the mods. I want to be very clear that I’m not blaming anyone and I’m not angry with anyone because this didn’t work out. I just feel that an explanation should be given. Unfortunately, we couldn’t come to agree on a Plan B and it was too late to come up with a new idea that worked anyway. So we decided to call the whole thing off.

Offline You have almost a whole year to come up with something which is unique, creative and inspired, @Von Bontee came up with a good one a few years back. Just remember that an April Fool’s Day joke dont need to bring chaos to the forum.

Offline As chair of the nominating committee for an organization I am in, I announced the winners of the elections at our business meeting yesterday…on April Fools day. I began by announcing the wrong people for the positions (people who hadn’t even been on a ballot). I had about 450 stunned faces looking at me. Then I asked if anyone had caught on yet. Cackles of laughter as they figured out what was up. That was so much fun!

I’m relieved, I wondered why I hadn’t been told about a prank, but nothing looked like it had changed. And I’m only Necko on weekends. The rest of the time I’m meanmistermustard.
