Offline Aw, thank you! This was my most elaborate April Fool’s prank. So much fun and I’m so glad so many people were willing to participate!
I was inspired about a month ago by this exchange at the Mop-tops thread between Non-bontee and AD40 when she changed her avatar to a blank face. I asked AD40 if she wanted to help. I contacted Joe and the mods to make sure it was okay, and Joe asked if the mods could have half apples.
Over the month, AD40 and I kept an eye on active posters and contacted them to get them on board and offered to make avatars. She made up a Google list to help us keep track.
I especially had fun with the animated gifs like these:
Due to the different time zones, Non-bontee was on to us early. I don’t know who came up with the idea of changing the user names. Von Kite? Von Nasty? But it was very clever.
Thanks for participating and Von Bontee/Non-bontee for being a good sport. And three cheers to Annadog40 for her hard work helping me contact members and making avatars! We’re looking good!
Edit: Just want to make sure Zig’s tribute doesn’t get missed.

I think one person just Vonnified their username (I’m not sure who; I was only sleeping) and others followed suit. Sort of like O’Zig starting the whole Irishification on St Patrick’s day.

Offline Yep! Guilty as charged, m’lord! Von Nasty set off the name changes!
Father McCartney set off the avatar changes at midnight UK time (finally settling my mind that I wasn’t the one being pranked, and that mine would be the only avatar to change).
So, I followed Father McCartney, and making the change in my profile, I just did the change from Ron to Von (deciding to add my own little twist to the elaborately planned playfulness). It was just kind of staring at me, Ron to Von.
Glad it added a little more jollity and fun to the proceedings.

Offline I went on my phone at 10am and I was surprised at how many people had got in on it- from Annadog40’s PMs I just thought it was 10 or so people and then nearly everyone did it.
