I got Man who sold the world by David Bowie, because I don't have any Bowie albums (Which is tragic) and because it's a good album. It's my favortie Bowie album and I will stand by that and until I listen to a better Bowie album.
{SCHNIP}
The Man Who Sold The World IS a good album. Although I don't know how much of it is just the beautiful album cover biasing my judgement of its contents
It will definitely be a solid addition to your collection, but PLEASE listen to another Bowie album. There are so many good ones. Ask me for recs

Don't worry! I've listened to about 7 Bowie albums. I liked all of them. Especially Hunky Dory (which might be my next victim when I take a trip to the record store). His music is cool. He's got so many good songs too! I think my father strategically tried to make me a Bowie fan since the age of five. It worked
He'd play me Major Tom when I was younger and then he sprung Ziggy Stardust on me when I was about 12. Awww Ziggy.... my second favortie Red-Headed musical alien.
Anyways what Bowie albums do you recomend? I'd love to hear your Bowie Fan Wisdom.

I've never really listened to David Bowie(Crazy I know.)
I'm trying open up my musical taste outside of The Beatles, Tyler the creator and Weird Al.
So since you're a Bowie fan what songs should I listen to as a newbie???

Hmmm I dunno. I think we should ask @Beatlebug for suggestions. She knows more about Bowie than I do.
I'll say some of his hits like, Space Oddity (aka Major Tom), Ashes to Ashes, Changes, Ziggy Stardust, Lets Dance. I think listening to an artist's hits is the best way to ease yourself further into their discography. If you want something Beatles related you can listen to Fame, John Lennon
sings backup vocals on that one, and on that same album (Young Americans) Bowie has a cover of Across The Universe
, which Lennon is also featured on. He has so many good songs it's hard to choose

Ohhhhhhhhh boy *rubs hands together maniacally*
Welcome my children @Oakwood and @MrHorse I shall be your guide to the land of Bowie – an artist I first took interest in due to users on this very Forum, as it happens – giving back to the next generation of Forumpudlians, if you will.
So I've actually created a "crash course/career overview" playlist where I SEVERELY limited myself to only a maximum of 2 songs per album (which in some cases was VERY difficult) – it's still pretty long, but that's just the peril of trying to do a career-spanning playlist for an artist who worked as prolifically, and for as long, as David Bowie. What I tried to do was to fairly represent the highlights from each album in a way that reflected where he was at artistically, because – especially with an artist like Bowie, who could do catchy pop hits and esoteric arty music with equal aplomb – I think hits don't always reflect an artist's sound or best work. Don't get me wrong, sometimes there's overlap, but sometimes there are deep cut gems and it is my mission to dig them out and bring them to a wider audience.
So, anyway, yeah, here are some tunes to sort of get you started and get a feel for his career evolution, so that you can dig into various segments of this vast discography at your leisure.
"The Rise & Evolution of David Bowie & the Studio Discography from Mars" on Spotify or YouTube
And since Bowie was as much a visual artist as he was musical, I would also highly recommend watching some of his music videos (and yes I have a personal favorites playlist of those too)

[sorry to double-post but I can't believe I forgot this important information...] AND don't forget to browse the Bowie Bible for disturbingly detailed information about all things Bowie! If you're a fan of the Beatles Bible, it may seem eerily familiar in layout and style...

Awww I still remeber the first time my father sat me down and played me Space Oddity. What a moment. It changed my simple little mind. Defently a Childhood Classic, alongside Pinball Wizard, White Room, Heroes, Lola, Octopus's Garden
, Cocaine, Werewolves of London, Burning Down the house, Jocko Homo, Rock Lobseter, and many many more.
I got to about Sound and Vision on the playlist before I had to do housework and errands for a few hours. I'm continuing my journey though the Bowie-verse with the guidance of Beatlebug's playlist. I'm currently at Blackout. Every song has been pretty fire

Crazy thing is most of my music taste has just come from me exploring music(except for Tyler the creator and Limp Bizkit). I've never really had anyone to help me out with my music taste but that's just me.

Sounds like your dad has rareified taste. I also inherited much of my dad's music taste (Beatles, George Harrison
, Pink Floyd, and a handful of other albums that I found in his collection that I then went down rabbit-holes around). Most of my music taste is either "my dad had one/some of their albums and I listened to their entire discography because I get hyperfixated on things" or friend recs (a lot of Forumpudlian recs since most of the people here have IMPECCABLE taste. Obviously. I mean, they're here. )
So glad to hear the playlist was of service! "Blackout" is an especial favorite of mine... I don't know why. I like weird chaotic music that's still somehow oddly catchy. I blame growing up listening to psychedelic-era Beatles
I suppose we should make SOME effort to stay on topic...
Uhhh... now that I am an Employed Grown-Up and have My Own Money to squander on things, I buy a LOT of music. I have a problem. Let's see if there are any standouts (read: Beatley).
About a month ago I trekked up to the metropolis to hit up one of my favorite used books & records stores, and I found a few things...
I already had a US vinyl copy of Revolver
, but this one was a used reissue with the proper tracklisting for a Very Decent Price, so I had to snap it up. Likewise with Houses Of The Holy, which is my favorite Zepp album tied with Physical Graffiti, and I just remembered being a teenager and trying to decide between that one and Led Zeppelin III at a record store with my Christmas money, and Zepp III won because it had the spinny wheel in the cover... so I bought HOTH for my broke 17-year-old self. Rio was new and in the wrap, but it had FUN LINEN TEXTURE so I had to get it as a birthday present for present-day me.
I've been working on my New Wave collection as you can see, but I found this whole lot of Very decently-priced and good-condition CDs on eBay, and I've had Band On The Run on vinyl for years, but for some reason Wings CDs have mostly been exorbitantly expensive lately, so I never got it on CD until I saw this lovely box set. Have I bought this album no less than three separate times in three different formats? Perhaps. Was it worth it? I mean, yeah

You're right about Wings CDs being exorbitant prices! I went to the record store today to get Ram
(Yes I know it's not Wings I'll get to wings in asecond). Well I found a copy of Ram
, it was in Japanese which wasn't really important, I would've gotten it anyways, IF IT HADN'T BEEN 24 DOLLARS! 24 dollars for a pre-owned copy, that's really testing me.There were a few other japanese copies of Paul Solo and Wings albums all of which were around $25-$30 pre-owned.
I didn't get Ram
BUT I did manage to find The Grey Album by The Velvet Underground. The album is acctually called the Velvet Underground but, who cares. One more album for my V.U. collection. Still no luck on WL/WH. I also decided "I'm gonna get a cassette" I dug through the cassette section and found "Elton John's Greatest hits part II". Pretty cool
Trying to remeber how to put a cassette into the player was strugle. I have two cassette players, the one I grew up with (Sony Tcm-929) and my newer Boom Box that I mostly use as a CD player. I decided to try and figure out how to put a cassette in with the Boom Box. That was a struggle I was sitting for three mintues trying to figure out what direction I'm supposed to put it in, then when I got it in it wasn't making noise. I had to switch the menu to the cassette player and the CD player. It's so much easier with the Sony player.
Here's some pictures of the cassette

OOF! Yeah, that's a bit much. I'm lucky my dad got me a nice used copy of Ram
on vinyl way back before McCartney became a hot topic again. I still don't have it on CD though... if I ever come across a decently-priced copy, I'll pick it up, but I doubt I will and it's not super urgent...
Y'know what I randomly decided was super urgent recently, though? Dhani Harrison's old band
I love thenewno2 and Dhani's music in general because there are definitely elements that will be familiar to any Harrifan such as myself (his voice obviously, but also a lot of his melodic sensibilities and chord choices), but he's definitely also got his own musical identity, particularly on the production side of things – I think Dhani is much more involved in the production of his records than George ever was in his – and his atmospheric style really suits my taste. I'm very pleased about getting these because I managed to find them for quite decent prices. thefearofmissingout is pretty widely available on the preowned market, but You Are Here is a bit harder to come by... I got lucky with this copy.
