Greatest Hits - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band (1994, recorded 1976-1994)

Necko, have you ever heard Bob Seger's early stuff - the singles he did as Bob Seger and the Last Heard, and the Bob Seger System albums and other pre-SilverBullet recordings he did under his own name between 1966 and '73? It's a true shame Bob has never authorized the reissue of more than a handful of those tracks!

Yeah, I have. I just don't own it.

Time to break Necko's streak of new album posts with one of my own.

Today I got a really good copy of John Lennon /Plastic Ono Band still in the shrink wrap.

Then I got like 5 Beatles/Solo 45's

Twist And Shout /There's A Place

Image Enlarger

Get Back /Don't Let Me Down

Image Enlarger

Image Enlarger

Paul: Say Say Say/Ode To A Koala Bear

Image Enlarger

Image Enlarger

George: Got My Mind Set On You/Lay His Head

Image Enlarger

Image Enlarger

Ringo: Oh My My/Step Lightly

Image Enlarger

Image Enlarger

Then I got these records for Free.

I already have this Billy Joel album, but I saw this copy with no jacket and so I decided to give it a home.

Image Enlarger

Image Enlarger

I got these two 45's for free because they were broken. The first one had a crack in it, which I snapped back into place, and the second one has a descent chip in the runin groove that extends a bit into the beginning of the song.

I found this really nice copy of America's Holiday which I'm almost positive was put in the free section by mistake, but I didn't ask questions, I just took it.

Image Enlarger

The record store owner said I should listen to this and gave it to me for free!(actaully I'm sure he was just trying to get rid of it and knew I'd take it.

Image Enlarger

I also pulled these out of the free section

Image Enlarger

I pulled this one out of the free section as well. I had seen it there before and I wondered why I hadn't grabbed it before. Then I got home and realized it wasn't Simon And Garfunkel performing it, which is why I didn't grab it before....

Well, I finally paid back the £9 from DSOTM and got this with the change:

IMG_20170513_141744.jpgImage Enlarger

George Harrison - 33 & 1/3 (1976)

I almost bought both Red Rose Speedway and Ringo's Rotogravure, but instead settled for this (perhaps I should get those next time). Also, my nan gave me this a few weeks back, and I'm only posting about it now:

Yesterday I bought Wings Greatest. It came with the 2 sided poster, but the record had a tiny hairline crack in the runin groove and the beginning of another day, but it's not that horrid.

I got 3 Eagles 45's

Today I got Give My Regards To Broad Street . Yes the Paul one, yes I may have spend a bit on it, but it was in AMAZING condition. It might even be better than my copy of McCartney II , and I didn't think that second hand records could come in much better condition than that. Also I kinda like the GMRTBS soundtrack.

I also got 2 45's

Billy Joel's Say Good Bye To Hollywood/Summer, Highland Falls (Songs In The Attic Version)

Then there was a bunch of jacketless albums added to the free section. I took a few of them.

And here's some other stuff from the free section.

I like the blind people record but please use smaller sizes for your images, they're so big that you cant x them out and if I am viewing the image and the top piece goes off screen, I have to refresh the page.

Not once does the diversity seem forced -- the genius of the record is how the vaudevillian "When I'm 64" seems like a logical extension of "Within You Without You" and how it provides a gateway to the chiming guitars of "Lovely Rita. - Stephen T. Erlewine on Sgt Pepper's

That's so cool that you were given not just 2 Beatles albums, but 2 of The Beatles best albums, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper 's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I have to ask, what version are these, my guess would be original Capitol pressings (not sure if it's mono or stereo), but I can't be sure. Beatles records are so cute and adorable, even more cuter than a baby with a puppy.

As for The Stone Roses, they're not bad but I definitely wouldn't call myself a fan. I prefer 60's and 70's rock like The Beatles, The Beach Boys , Queen, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Elton John, among others, so I'm not that interested in anything released from the 80's onwards, although some if it is good music.

A cassette,

The Best Of The Mersey Beat - Various Artists.

There's a few Beatley numbers on it (How Do You Do It , Got To Get You Into My Life , and Do You Want To Know A Secret .) done by a bunch of bands.
It's pretty good music.

My favourite song may be Ferry Cross The Mersey by Gerry & The Pacemakers.

I paid 1.08 cents for it. (Which is ridiculous for a cassette. a-hard-days-night-paul-11 )

They sure spread out their Beatles numbers. It's funny because I don't even consider Got To Get You Into My Life to be a Merseybeat song, I think the genre is more so pop rock and Motown, which thanks to Ron Nasty I know is a proper genre and not just a record company that produced pop music.

I'm pretty sure the songs have nothing to do with the title of the cassette. It's all about where the bands came from. So basically most of the bands that came over from Liverpool after the Beatles paved the way are on the tape.
