I can’t believe I’m saying this but now I know that there’s a greatest hits album by The Eagles that lacks Hotel California, their most popular song of all time. It’d be like a Queen greatest hits album without We Will Rock You or a KISS greatest hits album without Rock And Roll All Nite, but it’s true and it’s because they didn’t wait to release a compilation album, reminds me of that Judas Priest compilation where it contains 3 tracks from their 1st album, 4 tracks from their 2nd album, and a track from their 3rd album, although none of their popular songs had been written at the time.

Well this album came out after One Of These Nights, but before Hotel California, so I think that explains why Hotel California isn’t on it. It only contains stuff from Eagles, Desperado, On The Border, and One Of These Nights since those were the albums that preceded it.

Plus you managed to acquire a couple of good Ted Nugent records without having to buy them new, thus depriving him of money which he’d just use for evil purposes.

Oh, what a great collection! Such a variety of different styles!
The 2Cellos Cd is really cool – at the beginning, you think they’re another classic ensemble trying to play some pop songs to please their younger audience (at least that’s what I thought) but then when you listen to them you notice they really feel the music and their arrangements fit the mood of the original piece spot-on.

Have ordered 6 Emmylou Harris CD’s from Amazon to fill holes in my library and have very happily found a download of ‘Gliding Bird’ as it’s damn expensive on Amazon (£30) and not available on iTunes etc. Sourced from vinyl but no matter. Also found the complete set from Shephard’s Bush 1995 when she was promoting the ‘Wrecking Ball’ album, 16 compared to the commonly available 12 songs.

Necko, have you ever heard Bob Seger’s early stuff – the singles he did as Bob Seger and the Last Heard, and the Bob Seger System albums and other pre-SilverBullet recordings he did under his own name between 1966 and ’73? It’s a true shame Bob has never authorized the reissue of more than a handful of those tracks!
