I bought The Beatles in Stereo on CD today (yes, all 16 CDs!) I remember thinking, “Man, this sucker is huge!” My wife giving me all sorts of crap for buying a $216 collection when “You already have the songs!” Some people just don’t get it.thisbirdhasflown
I completely get it! I mean, you could just listen to them on Youtube, but it is so much more fun to have the real thing!
I wish I had the money to buy the whole packet, but I’m just a broke 13 year old

Well, the only albums I’ve ever bought with my own money are Ram , Ringo, and Past Masters , and… it was this year, so I submit that.

My dad was thinking of purchasing that, but we’ve got the 2009 remasters of most of the albums at this point anyway. (We have all the albums on CD, don’t get me wrong – most the recent remasters, a few not.)
If you're lonely (or not!), you can talk to me. .....Hey! Are you a new member on this fine forum and don't know where to go to introduce yourself?
Well, you can do it here! Dig it?

I feel for you. It’s great to hear the actual recordings! This just shows you how willing people are to shell their money down for this!

I recently bought an old Herbie Mann CD I’d never listened to before and had had a hard time finding for years:
Sunbelt (1979)
This is Herbie Mann just relaxing and chilling with very easygoing pop jazz laced with a decidedly, though not overtly, Brazilian flavor. Nothing flashy or obviously great here, but it’s nice to hear a master leaning back to enjoy himself, rather than straining forward with every muscle to excel as a maestro.

Sorry tbhf, I agree with your wife. I too bought it on Amazon, and thankfully cancelled it the next day before it shipped. It is the same songs. Your better off buying the Capitol Vol.1 & vol.2 to hear what Capitol actually put out in the 60’s. You just have fancy US covers with the UK mixes.
Sorry Apple!
People who bought the 2012 re-issue LP set, will be jealous that the new 2014 mono LP set is analog, so look for a re-re-issue analog stereo LP set in the future.

I recently bought Jack White’s new album, Lazaretto. It’s excellent, definitely a worthy follow up to Blunderbuss. I think he may be setting himself up as one of those Paul (McCartney) or Paul (Simon) musicians who have successful solo careers after leaving a successful band. The album’s really good, my favorites are High Ball Stepper, Temporary Ground, and I Think I Found The CulpritSir Paul left a less successful band? I’d say that The Beatles were pretty successful. Wings, too.
Uh, no. I said both were successful.

Bought “Seven Classic Albums” (two of which I already owned, but with seven-on-a-4CD set at a lowlow price, who cares?) by my boy Cecil Taylor. Collectively they trace the first five recorded years of his remarkable 60-years-and-counting career, showing a remarkable progression from the post-Monk angularity of the pianist’s 1956 debut through his experiments in rhythm and harmony and pure SOUND to the point in 1961 where he was finally beginning to cast off the limitations of time and steady time signatures themselves. (Or so it says here.)
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

I wonder if we’ll have re-re-re-re-releases from apple many years from now. What do you guys think?

Of course we will. The Beatles are a cash cow so expect new shiny vinyl is 10, 20 or 30 years when the format comes back in fashion or Apple decide they have to something ahead of the Let It Be film being issued. The new one will be 300 gram vinyl and the $3,876 stereo box will come with a free code so you can download the notes to your device that when the correct button is pushed changes into a needle and amplifier to play them on.
