Tommy (the soundtrack, not the original Who album.)

One of my dad’s friends gave it to him for me. Unfortunately the guy gave away all his Beatles albums before he knew I liked ’em.paul-mccartney-facepalm_gifahdn_george_05

Listening to some of the Live @ the BBC albums. Trying not to burn through it all. It’s like bloody Christmas over here. a-hard-days-night-ringo-6

@natureaker , when We’ve Only Just Begun came out I had moved to Hawaii and every time I heard it I had this overwhelming sense of deja vu. Years later I was playing Trivial Pursuit and one of the questions was about the origin of the song. Turns out it was originally used in the background of a commercial for a local Bay Area bank. paul-mccartney-facepalm_gif

A disc of arias composed by Antonio Salieri (yes, the one in Amadeus) performed by Cecilia Bartoli.

Somewhat ironically the film has revived interest in a composer who was actually pretty good (in my opinion yadda yadda).

Tea For The Tillerman, Cat Stevens (I’ve really been wanting this one for a long time.)

I hit the used vinyl jackpot as well this weekend…

George Harrison Cloud Nine (near-mint $4)

Wings — Wings Over America (not as mint, but not bad, and also $4)

Dickie Betts — Highway Call (replaces my original vinyl that I gave to my brother, and regretted, during my “no turntable” years.  This one looks exactly like my old one, which is to say, the jacket is scuffed in all the usual places)

Pete Seeger — Greatest Hits

Grand total was under $20 including tax!

Just when I thought it was over they drag me back in …

And given the number of CDs in the boxes I buy I really should only be in this thread once a decade 😉

L’Oiseau Lyre are about to release a 50 CD set of Medieval and Renaissance music. I ‘only’ have around a dozen CDs from this period in my collection and virtually nothing from this box so it will make a very nice bookend to my classical collection (which has CDs right up to 2015 at the other end of the timeline).

Pink Floyd’s The Final Cut on CD. a-hard-days-night-george-9

At the record shop where I bought it, up on the wall at the cashier there’s a whole wack of rarer records (last time I went I saw The Piper at the Gates of Dawnpresumably a UK pressing, but I don’t think I saw it this time paul-mccartney), and I seen a German pressing of The Dark Side of The Moona-hard-days-night-john-3

It spoke to me (I’ve got a thing going for German pressings of my favourite albums; I’m not sure why a-hard-days-night-ringo-7), so don’t be surprised if I end up telling you all about my acquisition of it in the next little while. a-hard-days-night-paul-7
