I don’t know if I’ve shared this. Those older forum users may remember, but I made an account on here in June of 2016, but didn’t become too active until August. At that time I rediscovered the Paul is Dead myth and changed my name to William Shears Campbell after the guy who allegedly replaced Paul. Some of my first posts were in the Paul is Dead thread and a few people thought I was a troll perpetuating Beatles conspiracy theories as they had never seen me around before.

@Neely I would recommend removing your Christian name from the above post, and saying something like “there were already multiple people with the same first name as me…”
This is a public forum and it is not a good idea to give away your full name here. There are lots of strange people out there, and somebody might be able to locate you with that information.
I did it with someone once (just to illustrate that if you give too much information you can put yourself at risk). I think it might have been @Beatlebug? Whoever it was, they were signing pictures they were posting with their full name, and I was able to send them a PM telling them where they lived, and commiserating on the death of their grandfather. They sensibly changed how they were signing their pictures.

No, that wasn’t me; I would never be so careless, as I’m a bit paranoid plus I haven’t had any grandfather deaths. Anyway, yes, I second Ron’s advice. On a similar note, you also give away a lot of information about where you live, and while I appreciate that we have such a friendly community you feel comfortable with us, we’re not the only ones who can read everything posted on this forum. Better safe than sorry, and all that.

You don’t have to give out that much info really. There are some smart, clever, devious people out there.

^^^ There are many people on Twitter for example who show their real name and even have pics & videos of their homes or whatever, and some of them criticize those who want to remain anonymous (like me). I could never wrap my head around why & how so many people cannot see the merit of anonymity online. Seems an utter no-brainer to me, doesn’t even need a defense. I had a blog that was critical of Islam, and one day having coffee with my friend in a cafe, he chided me “Why don’t you post your real name? What are you afraid of?” I had the perfect response: “Okay, and I’ll add that I have a friend who agrees with me and I’ll put your name in!” That shut him up real quick. 🙂

Well, my last name is Neely.People regularly started calling me Neely when I moved to this new school and there was already multiple people with my name who played flute in band, so I became Neely. Most kids at school don’t even know my first name.
My office mate had that same issue. I got to go to her birthday party last weekend and observe them calling each other by their last names.
