1) I own an ever growing collection of 250+ DVDs and I’m an avid cinema enthusiast.
2) I’ve spent a lot of time editing songs and films on my computer. I’ve rearranged films, recreate albums and songs, I’ve made mashups and I even made some hip hop beats a couple of months ago. Yesterday I combined LZ’s In My Time of Dying and In the Light and it went incredibly well. If copyright doesn’t eat it I will soon share it.
3) I’m currently working as a translator, I’ve been working home for over a year and now that we’re locked in our houses because of coronavirus I’m working more than ever. I work for my mother that is a translator, so I basically work for people that don’t know I work for them. Even though I do make a decent living out of it, I’m looking to find a legitimate job soon.
4) I bump to some Kanye.
5) I play piano since I was eleven. Never took classes, and that’s the reason I’m still not outstanding, but I don’t mind because I prefer jamming more than actual technique and skill.
6) I’ve played drums for a couple of years, but never had one at home, so it didn’t work out. I know some songs on guitar, but since I don’t have my own I never elaborated on it. I’m looking forward to buying me an acoustic guitar soon.
7) Some of my favourite films include Singin’ in the Rain , Whiplash, Cinema Paradiso, Casablanca, Goodfellas, American Graffiti, 12 Angry Men, Some Like It Hot, Scent of a Woman & Radio Days. Some of my favourite albums include Late Registration, Pink Floyd’s Animals, In a Silent Way, Dilla’s Donuts, All Things Must Pass , Head Hunters, (recently discovered) Ladies and Gentlemen WAFIS, Jobim’s Stone Flower and of course Revolver & Abbey Road .
8) Ok imma be honest with y’all. I’ve never listened to Radiohead, or anything by them. Sure I’ve heard the chorus of Creep, and I’m sure another song in a movie that I didn’t even realize it was Radiohead. But an album by them? never. I know this might sound weird given I’ve proven myself to be able to hold a conversation with many of you about certain artists and themes surrounding a lot of known music, and Radiohead should be like the first thing you assume I’ve heard. The reason for this is because when I started to listen to albums I heard Abbey Road and Kind of Blue and Led Zeppelin IV and Ziggy Stardust and all the so-called “top” albums in each artist’s discography. For sheer luck I never listened to Radiohead. And then I found out how highly praised OK Computer, Kid A, The Bends, In Rainbows and AMSP (and Amnesiac and Hail to the Thief as well, apparently) were. So my point is I’m really preparing myself to listen thoroughly to their discography like in a single day, in chronological order, Sunday, alone in my house, maybe high, like in a very meticulous way. Have you ever listened to one of your favourite albums and thought “I wish I could listen to this for the first time”?, I sure have, with the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd. Well, I think Radiohead is my last chance to listen to something very special for the first time. I’m just waiting for the perfect moment. Maybe all of this over-hype will be harmful if I find out I’m not into them as much, but I’m willing to take the risk, given everyone who likes the things I like usually loves Radiohead as well.
9) I’ve cosplayed Sgt. Pepper on a costume party during my graduates trip a year ago. Me and my Beatle-fans friends made them ourselves. Here’s proof.
I’m John.
My grandmother made them given she’s a seamstress since she was fifteen. All of the arrangements came from us personally (I painted the hats). And we were sure to be specific as possible (because there are so many terrible Sgt. Pepper recreations), the patches were designed by one of our art teachers and she was glad to do it. It is one of the biggest commitments I’ve made in my life, to recreate those costumes.

@Jules Haha, those costumes are awesome! Magnificently done. The two Freddie Mercurys were funny too
Also, I do like Radiohead, so, when you’re ready, if you’d like to chat or get some musical guidance, you can PM me anytime After Pink Floyd, which I discovered pretty organically, I’ve made the effort to get into artists by listening to their discographies in chronological order, and I definitely think it’s worth it.

Yeah, what drove us to be as thorough as we were (within our limited budget) was looking up “Sgt Pepper costumes” on Google and seeing this type of crap:
It triggers me how insanely vague those imitations are. So it was either great or not at all. And I’m glad to say we were recognize by many at that party, so the costumes were successful. One guy even came up to us and started singing the title track, and one of the DJ’s invited the four of us a drink (he was a rock fan). It was a wonderful night.

Um… John is yellow in the first one, and why is the pink on Ringo so odd in the first picture as well? Unless they’re colourblind they have no excuse.

That sounds like a memory that you’ll cherish for a very long time – and one that everyone here will almost certainly be jealous of.

I think John’s yellow because usually when the Pepper cover gets saturated enough he looks yellow.
I mean it is lousy fact-checking from the guy who made the costume, but it is explainable.

For sure, thanks!!

Hi @Vera Chuck and Dave, have you seen the Hot Ones videos on youtube? The interviews get stranger as the Scoville scale rises. The Scarlett Johansson one is my favorite. She is ending months of traveling for Avengers publicity and the exhaustion finally gets to her for reals.

Decided to go back and find my old posts on this thread, and thought it might be fun to update them.
1. I’m 16 years old.
I’m now 19.
2. I’m a dog person.
Still a dog person, though cats have grown on me and I do really want a tortoise.
3. I’m currently procrastinating homework.
No changes there, I’ve been procrastinating uni work for over a month at this point.
4. I mostly wear dungarees rather than trousers.
Heh, this is cringeworthy, since I’ve only ever owned one pair of dungarees, I just used to wear them a lot at this point. I’m wearing them now, actually. They’re very comfy.
5. I recently detoxed of almost all my social media accounts.
This was a good decision, albeit one that I’ve mostly reversed. Social media is fun if you use it right and don’t get too invested.
6. I don’t drink tea or coffee.
No big changes there, though when I’m working the occasional coffee goes a long way to waking me up.
7. I work in a cinema.
No change there, except I’m now furloughed given the virus.
8. I have a show on my local radio station.
I volunteered with the radio station for about six months. It was good fun to use the technology and pick the music, but it was also very time consuming and a bit lonely, being sat in the booth on my own for two hours at a time, only speaking every few minutes.
9. I’m a Labour supporter.
Now a proud party member and activist
(Bonus round of facts from my second post) 10. I have a Les Paul copy electric guitar, but I wish I’d bought a different type like a Fender Mustang or Jazzmaster because they suit my playing style much better. Still feel the same way, and still haven’t gotten round to getting a replacement. 11. I listen to about 5 hours of music a day. Until recently, this had dropped off quite a bit. Now that I’m stuck at home all the time under lockdown, it’s probably way higher than this. 12. I have made demos of dozens of songs and covers but I am always too lazy to finish them. Still the same problem, though I am working on improving on a lot of them to the point they’re at least solid demos. 13. My favourite musician is Phil Elverum a.k.a Mount Eerie/The Microphones. Phil is still a favourite of mine, but at this point it’d be pretty futile to try and pick out just one musician to call my favourite. 14. I am interested in politics, and am considering doing a degree in it when I leave school. Now doing that degree! 15. My social life is something of a paradox because I am part of a large group of friends all of whom I get on with, but I am actually very shy and somehow manage to conceal this. Yep, I still feel pretty anxious and insecure in certain social situations, but less so than two years ago. Nowadays it’s more the buildup to a social situation that gets to me, like the car journey over to a particular event. The anticipation makes me overthink things and panic 16. I model most of my clothing on musicians e.g dungarees (Mac DeMarco/Ringo Starr ), suede jacket (Dylan on the cover of Freewheelin’) Another cringeworthy one, I never really did this beyond the examples mentioned. Aside from occasionally dragging up with friends for fun, I play it pretty safe clothing wise, mostly opting for straight jeans, band tees and jumpers. 17. I like the cold, the winter and the snow. I’m not particularly nocturnal but I like the atmosphere of being outside at night. Still love the winter (when it snows, that is), but I am definitely nocturnal now. I’ve come to realise that I function way better at night. 18. I have recently decided not to drink alcohol again (not that I did often anyways, but the last time I did I realised that I don’t enjoy it and it’s not worth getting a hangover). Lol, that went just swimmingly If I recall correctly, it wasn’t so much the alcohol that was making me depressive as hell every time I drank, but rather my closeted-teenage-bisexual angst, which is kind of hilarious to look back onIn any case, that lasted about two months…

It’s funny how “bilingual” in English, countries outside of the US (I don’t know if Canada also shares this so I should probably say ‘North America’) are. Like if an America were to say to me “overalls”, I would know what they meant. The only time I’d ever use overalls though was for if you were working on a car or something, the garment that protects your clothes then is an ‘overall’. Dungarees are the things Donna wears in Mamma Mia.
My television consumption as a wain was probably split pretty evenly, most of the cartoons I watched were American but the live-action stuff was Irish, British or Australian and looking at my bookshelves most of the children’s books I read were by English authors.

I haven’t seen Mamma Mia…And overalls actually don’t cover all your clothes, you would be thinking of coveralls. Those are a different thing.
To simply clarify things:
- Dungarees (American “overalls”)
- Overalls (American “coveralls”)
I own two pairs of jean overalls/dungarees. One of them is regular overalls and the other is overalls combined with shorts for summertime. I’m also trying to get my hands on an overall dress that I can wear as a cute look for parties/just-for-going-out-and-looking-cute-for-the-guys-and-gals-out-there

The overalls my dad wears are like a more-covering dungaree (the sides go up to just underneath the armpit and it’s higher up on the chest). He wears whatever t-shirt he wants under it because they’re easy to wash.

Earlier today I had done 9 more and for some reason didn’t save them so I’ll have to start over:
- I’m left-handed but play stringed-instruments right-handed and a mouse right-handed. That’s not too good cos I still draw with my left hand, so I will have to learn to use a tablet left-handed again.
- I have a new food-processor, I have made my own banana smoothies and felafels with it so far! I do love cooking, its a challenge and you get something tasty at the end!
- It’s my 37th anniversary as a bass player. I reckon I must be getting good at it. I would have waited until the 40th anniversary but 37 never gets enough attention and it’s a prime number too!
- I bought my first rug, why did I never do this before, rugs are awesome. Bonus points: its patterns confused my cat who is young and has been used to a single colour carpet since she was six months old so this rug looked like it had weird bumps or pieces in it and she tried to scrape them off. Now she sleeps on it so she’s ok with it.
- I moved next to a nature reserve a couple of years ago so I’m now very aware of birds: kookaburras laugh at dawn and dusk., lots of parrots, galahs, lorikeets, ravens and shrikes The big cockatoos who came in in summer have just gone as its now autumn and I’m hoping to see one of my favourite birds, the black-chinned honeyeater who is quite popular with the local magpies they seem to make friends every year.
- My favourite “uniform” is hoodie pants and runners. I like simple clothes but i like colourful t-shirts.
- I have been to every capital city in Australia except Hobart.
- I taught myself the piano on school pianos from the age of 13-18 and haven’t had a piano since. I plan to get a digital one and get back into it!
- I still don’t think I’ve really grown up.
