I'm terrible at languages, as are far too many Brits. We tend to get by knowing that most foreigners speak better English than we speak their own languages, which breeds inaction.

I can remember a bit of French and German from school, and having lived in Wales for 15 years I can just about follow a conversation in Welsh (but can't speak or read it). Other than that I'm still trying to master the English language.

I speak two languages, if pig latin counts.a-hard-days-night-ringo-9

No, I'm just like Joe, a lazy spoiled English speaker – only in my case, it's more scornful, this being an officially bilingual country, after all.  I never could quite wrap my larynx around those elusive French glottal calisthenics.

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Canadians don't learn english and french in school? What do you do if you go to a french-speaking city?

By the way, I speak spanish, english and I'm currently studying japanese. I'd studied a little french and german, but I don't rememeber too much.

I'd like to say "thank you" on behalf of the group and ourselves and I hope we passed the audition.

A few words in Spanish, but not enough to carry on a conversation.

Yeah, we take French (or Anglais) classes from about age 8 through 14, but they're optional after that, and they only cover the very basics. And I hated it and only learned the bare minimum, and then abandoned it forever (and immediately forgot a lot of what I learned!)  Nobody's fault but my own, I know…Actually, I've considered learning to read & write it better, so I could communicate with a keyboard, or paper & pencil if necessary. But for now I'm content to let the French speak English, that way they can feel superior. Everybody wins!

Oh, I sort of learnt Indonesian in Primary. Only for I think Prep and Grade 1, though. I only remember a few phrases, like Nama saya James, and that sort of thing. Just REALLY basic stuff

Incidentally, George had the best German out of the four Beatles. They all learnt a little in Hamburg but he managed the most.

Oh! That's cool! a-hard-days-night-george-9 Probably 'cause he was younger, right? It's easier to, like, store it when you're younger, you know? a-hard-days-night-paul-2

I'm in love, but I'm lazy.
