Uh-oh, sorry HoleyApple, but I caucus with the Repieblicans on this single deal-breaker of an issue! Normally I’d say they’re just a bunch of upper-crust flakes, but the supremacy of pie over cake should be obvious to all, whatever their pielitical stripe. I know of no such delicacies as “sweet potato cake” nor “chicken pot cake” nor “pizza cake”. The humble tart matches the vaunted cupcake for single-serving convenience value. And your so-called “cheesecake” IS a pie, face it!
All due respect to HoleyApple (and no offense/much love to Cakemaestor) but I simply cannot support such a half-baked outlook. I find this cake-prioritization risable, and feel that your senses have seemingly desserted you as regards this issue.

UK all the way (though MMT makes a good argument…)
What about all of the great non-album tracks like This Boy and Day Tripper ? Would you go down the UK route and make us buy all the singles and EP’s or would you let us have pressings of their US albums made outside of the Americas.

Ahhh Girl is correct; Starr Shine’s playfulness and meanmistermustard’s crypticism to the contrary, I am indeed one person in one location! I’d temporarily forgotten my original account’s password (written down in a different location) mere days after creating it, and ultimately just created an instant additional account. I’ve found that a combination of the UK pressings and then compilations like 1 and Past Masters works for me.
The early American Capitol tracklistings feel so rushed and full of covers. It’s the same reason Beatles For Sale is my least favourite UK album. (There are some great tracks, a bad Beatles album in the grand scheme is still a good album. But after the fully Lennon-McCartney A Hard Day’s Night , to then revert back to blues and rock and roll covers?)

I’m quite happy with how it is. Ignoring all the releases with BBC tracks, outtakes, alternate mixes etc, you need 14 albums to have a complete collection of every Beatles track released when they were together and that is available to buy with ease with the stereo box.
As for the if in the 60’s, I would want the originals, not the cut and paste efforts put out in the US. And you still wouldn’t have everything on the Capitol albums as you would need to hunt down a few random singles for the b-sides (I’m Down , ‘The Inner Light ‘ etc) and a Vee-Jay release for ‘Misery ‘ and ‘There’s A Place ‘.
There seems to be this idea that the US albums are a bit muddled but far better than how the UK did it but that’s bollocks, it would be a mess as well.
