The Guns of Brixton by the Clash has to be one of my favorite Basslines ever. What are your favourites?

Mine too. Add in Trampled Under Foot by Led Zeppelin; Message in a Bottle by the Police; My Generation by the Who; On Call by Kings of Leon; 19th Nervous Breakdown by the Rolling Stones.

I'm not good at figuring out basslines though. Sometimes I can pick them out, but that doesn't happen very often a-hard-days-night-paul-1

I Wish and Higher Ground by Stevie Wonder, Cissy Strut, Pungee, Funky Miracle…pretty much any song by the Meters incredible George Porter. Deja Vu and Wooden Ships by CSN(Y), Tighten Up by Archie Bell and the Drells, Dr, Funkenstein by Parliament. I enjoy a nice funk bass line or riff.

If it counts, I like the “Madison” bassline! (from “Hairspray.”)

Crossroads by Cream. Especially during Clapton's second guitar solo at 2:33. Jack Bruce's performance in that song is jaw-droppingly good.

To the fountain of perpetual mirth, let it roll for all its worth. And all the children boogie.

The bassist from Flobots is an awesome slap bassist.

And they're a brilliant band, just fyi. a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

I think it's great you're going through a phase,

and I'm awfully glad it'll all be over in a couple

of days

Longview by Green Day is great, Smells Like Teen Spirit has good one. Under Pressure of course.

There There by Radiohead has a killer bassline, as does Paranoid Android and a lot of their stuff.

Faceo’s joining the excavation!

Pretty much anything by the Police, Driven To Tears is great, Can’t Stand Losing You, Murder By Numbers, and of course Roxanne.

Snow by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is good.

Can’t think of any more specific songs at the moment… Too many good ones.

Almost every Chili Pepper’s bassline is great. Flea rules.
