Will The Beatles albums ever be released in Hi-Fi?

I would be really interested to hear The Beatles in a high-fidelity audio format. Perhaps on Blu-Ray . . plus the large files are a great way to combat bootlegging by making it inconvenient for people to keep these files on their hard drive (this to me is the only upside of streaming services, if they offer hi-fi audio).

If they do release the albums in a hi-fi format who would you want to do the mixes. Would you want the original mixes or would you want the tracks mixed again for this release?  Also remastered or original masters?

You wouldn’t consider the 2014 mono LP’s hi-fi Don ?  Or the 2009 remastered CD’s ????

Anyways, to answer your question, I’m tired of re-re-re-re-reissues, so no!

Had enough remixes of material we already have and reissues. Next time there is a Beatles album release I want it to be something we don’t already have. Done properly by someone who a) knows what they are doing, b) does it properly and c) takes into consideration what the real fans want.

A hi-fi digital format that exceeds CD

Although it sounds promising Don, I don’t believe the masses would buy Blu Ray audio, so doubt they would do it.  I hope I’m wrong though!

But honestly, how much better can recordings from the 60’s sound, especially from 2 track or 4 track recordings that have been bounced a few times.

Wasnt that Apple USB apple thingy uncompressed and as pure as pure can be? Came out around the same time as the 2009 remasters. Personally I cannot tell the difference between uncompressed, compressed, hi-end’s, low deeps etc.

Its Apple. Expect expensive products that only cover part of the market that could be served. They’ll be a reason, there always is; folk will read it and then wonder what on earth Apple are going on about before walking away mumbling and shaking their heads.

Makes me think of the 2012 Stereo LP boxset that was “digitally” recorded.  We all know eventually there will be an “Analog Stereo” boxset coming out some day, like the 2014 “Analog Mono” LP set!

We’re on to you Apple! heart

Now I’m curious of what would be better.  Buying directly from iTunes into my computer, or downloading the CD’s where they might be considered 2nd generation, since it’s going from a CD laser to the computer.

I guess I could get off my lazy ass and try a couple of LP’s I bought from iTunes and hook it up to the stereo to hear the difference a-hard-days-night-ringo-13

Nowhere near an expert but direct from the CD is often said to be superior to downloading from iTunes.*

*Disclaimer: it depends on the system and equipment you use and how you rip from CD.

iTunes albums are lossy files which means that theoretically, they are slightly worse quality than a CD but it’s very difficult to hear the difference unless you’re messing about with the audio file.

I’ve decided what I want . . . 32 bit/192 kHz . . nothing less! (taken from the original masters of-course)

Probably won’t happen for awhile but I do hope that sometime soon that the masses will demand high-fidelity audio – with declining sales in physical formats I believe it could be the only incentive to get consumers back to buying physical music. As high-fidelity files take up too much storage space for the modern hard drive

Want to run this idea by you guys to see what you think . . it’s a bit far out there and may even anger some of you but here it goes – what would you think about the original Beatles tracks being mixed AGAIN with modern studio equipment. So the the original tracks, the original studio notes and the best mix engineers in the business working on SSL K console or Neve 88RS console instead of the REDD.37 and REDD.51 console

I mean eventually this will probably happen anyway when they release The Beatles catalog in surround sound – that is the next logical step in the progression right? Giles Martin already did it for 1+ it’s probably a safe bet to assume the rest of the catalog will be coming next right?

Hopefully Gilles will get around to doing Rubber Soul and a few other LPs, to fix the vocals on the 1 channel, like he did with some of the songs on Beatles 1+

They cannot release the first few LPs in surround sound, but I imagine, it could be done in a fake surround effect. heart

Actually it’s a tad more compressed but it’s barely audible. The Apple is mastered at 24/44.1. CDs are mastered at 16/44.1. Does the Apple sound better than the CDs? Not a lot but I’m an old man with old mans ears.

What is happening? And tell me how you've been.

Now that we have Hi-Fi, or Hi-Res in current speak, Beatles a bunch of sad old men are bitching about it because they don’t like Giles’ remixes. This American says to bugger off. I’m not sure HD tracks is the only place you can get them but you can purchase all the outtakes in 24/96. Granted it’s like purchasing the box sets twice if you already have the physical copies but I felt it was worth it.

What is happening? And tell me how you've been.

I’ve got my 2009 CDs in iTunes (ALAC), and cannot hear any difference between them and my FLAC Apple USB.

I’ve done some loud A/B comparisons, but nothing scientific.

P.S.  I don’t care for Gilles loud CD’s, so he and you could bugger off, it wouldn’t bother me!

You bought the Apple Apple USB!? After all these years my search has come to an end.

I cannot get into all this format and sound quality giggery; unless you play it on a hi-density proactor at 47kh with the signal pointing SE, the left earphone playing 0.01% quicker than the left, and the sun over Seattle, then you might as well be listening to the song playing at the bottom of a sandpit. Sounds fine on my phone having purchased some decent earphones.
