Interesting, nice find mmm.

I still can’t believe Helter Skelter in mono doesn’t include the famous “I’ve Got Blisters On My Fingers“….a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

The mono and stereo mixes on the U.S. Help album are particularly striking. Especially on “Ticket To Ride ,” which sounds… I dunno, bare (for lack of anything better to say) on the stereo version, but in mono it’s a glorious audio explosion.

I still say get the 2004-06 US Capitol Vol.1 & 2 CD’s to hear how Capitol added soo much reverb in the 60’s, compared to the 2014 US CD set, which used the 2009 UK remixes.  What a rip off!

Now that the 2014/09/09 mono LP’s are coming out mixed with analog technology, people will demand that the 2012 digital stereo LP sets be re-issued in analog stereo.

Another money grab. Get your wallets out. a-hard-days-night-ringo-15

I believe fans care about the mono mixes due to the fact the Beatles themselves were involved in the mixing process and recorded the songs for mono only. The stereo mixes were an afterthought and were using mixed a couple of weeks after the mono mixes were completed.

I personally prefer the stereo mixes though there are a few mono mixes that I think sound great. A little more punch to them such as ‘Lady Madonna ‘ and ‘Revolution ‘.

The further one travels, the less one knows

I’ve been contemplating getting the mono CD box set, as soon as I’m in a position to do so, and got a copy of the US Revolver on CD (since you can’t just buy the UK mono CD’s separately) as a test run.

Right now I’m listening to each song in stereo followed by the mono mix. I’ve noticed the bass seems more prominent and the whole thing sounds somewhat fuller in mono. Double-tracked vocals also seem cooler on top of each other in mono.
One thing I noticed when listening to the end of Love To You (Mono) is that it goes on a little longer and has a cool little sitar part. I just checked and it’s about 10 seconds longer than in stereo, so it’s not just my imagination!
The beginning of I Want To Tell You comes creeping in from the left in stereo and seems like it’s coming straight at you in mono, both sounding really great respectively, although I think stereo wins here (just for this part, haven’t gotten through the whole of the song in mono yet).

Not sure which I like better at this point, but really enjoying the mono mixes!
