Occasional lurker, I thought I’d add my thoughts on this!
PPM – John. His vocals really stand out
WTB – John, though Paul has the best song on the album (All My Loving )
AHDH – John at his prolific peak. Paul does contribute 3 excellent songs though
BFS – John, though none of them are especially strong on this
Help – John and Paul tie. John wins the movie songs, Paul the non movie songs side
RS – John. So many good songs, which lyrically were really moving the Beatles on.
Revolver – Paul. So many good songs, and so much variety too. Musically he was starting to become more important too, e.g. the tape loops which he was the first to play around with or the guitar solo on Taxman . John’s songs are great too, but not at Paul’s level on this album
SPLHCB – John and Paul. Paul has the concept and quantity, but John has the more memorable songs (A Day In The Life is 3/4 John)
MMT (EP) – Paul
TB – John and Paul. Both have brilliant songs, both have “filler” being kind.
YS – John and George. George has the quantity, John has the best song.
LIB – Paul easily
AR – Paul and George. George has the best 2 songs on the album, but the Paul led medley really catches the ear, and the Golden Slumbers to The End section is still a great moment in the Beatles’ History
Adding up the scores gives
John 7
Paul 5
George 1
