Not a fan of Oprah. I havent seen much of it but it appears to have a lot of emotional mush and stroke celeb egos. Wasnt it Oprah when Ton Cruise acted a complete pillock – for that alone it deserves a demotion?Like her or not, you can’t deny the power she has over the whole world. Practically the most historically significant person of the twenty-first century. Basically, she picked the president of The United States, and she brought education to Africa. And yeah, that was on Oprah that Tom Cruise did that.
I dont deny that she has influenece and power, i just dont like this celeb love in that seems to be everywhere. It seems like every celeb who goes on a talk show has to be told how great they and whatever they are hawking is no matter what. Cant some interview grow some balls? I dont mean be rude just if its not good then dont say its amazing.

What? I’m pretty great at guitar, even if I still struggle with my barre chords, and the fact that I sound like Ringo is a plus!
"I'd tell her I love her, but she'd only reject me in the end and I'd be frustrated. That's why I play guitar; it's my active compensatory factor" -Ringo said something like this once, I changed it up a bit.

Offline I don’t think these were mentioned: Stephen Hawking, Malcolm X, Richard Branson. I also like the suggestions of Martin Luther King, Dalai Lama and Milan Kundera. My personal cover would have Jean Cocteau, but that might be too obscure. :->

Why Malcolm X? You don’t have to kill people for equality. Martin Luther King Jr. didn’t do it, Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony didn’t do it, there wasn’t any reason Malcolm X had to. Really, though, he wasn’t fighting for equality, he wanted to have segregation between black and white people.

Yeah, wtf? Malcolm never killed anybody, never advocated anything like it except in self-defense. Plus he had a spiritual awakening in the last year of his life, and renounced his earlier teachings.
Back on topic, I think a cartoon character or two would be nice. Maybe Betty Boop or Bugs Bunny. And the Pillsbury Dough Boy!

Offline They did get Emerick to engineer “Time of the Season”, and they used the Beatles’ Mellotron and their synchronized 4-track recorders on Odessy and Oracle

Offline Though couldn’t you have individuals that happened to part of the same band? I could, for instance, make arguments for Syd Barrett, Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour. I could also make arguments for Colin Blunstone and Rod Argent. I could argue for Richard Thompson and Sandy Denny. I could argue for many that passed through the Mothers of Invention or John Mayall’s Bluebreakers. Surely it should be stature of an individual and not whether they’ve been in the same as someone else? Exclude whole bands by all means, but to say choose only one from a group is wrong. After all, didn’t Laurel AND Hardy make the original?

Offline Damn, mja, you should be a lawyer! Sure, I don’t mind individuals from the same group represented in other contexts. And I’m always overjoyed to see references to Sandy Denny or Frank Zappa’s Mothers on this board.
As for Laurel & Hardy, they aren’t a band! More to the point, though, there’s only two of them. And since my real problem with including entire groups is that I’d like to see the hugest assortment of people from all different fields that can possibly fit on an album cover, I hereby proclaim that “groups” of two are allowable. So if anybody wants to have Simon & Garfunkel or the Indigo Girls or whoever, fine. In fact, if you want to cheat and include only the two most photogenic members of a group, that’s fine too. Unless those two happen to be brothers named Gallagher. Those two are RIGHT OUT!

I object that Beatle kids should just be on there per se, but why only male Beatle kids. Surely two female McCartney’s have had quite an impact outside of their namesakes field (one would be Mary, who is adopted daughter). But sorry, on what grounds would Jason be there, and James is only just beginning really… There needs to be more reason than their parents were on the original cover, they have to have achieved something!

Offline Yeah, I’m not crazy about the nepotism involved in including Beatle offspring either. But I wouldn’t mind little Beatrice McCartney because little kids are cute. And they’re small, so they take up less room!
But hmmm…Maybe the album in question could have a “supergroup” of Zac, Sean, Julian, Dhani and James playing on one track – specifically “Reprise”, since it’s like a second-generation “reprise” of the original group?

Offline Beatrice could take the place of the doll who wore the ‘welcome the Rolling Stones’ jumper.
Cant see the beatles kids playing together and subsequently releasing it, i doubt they want to in the first place and then there is the media attention and hype. But then that doesnt really come into this thread in the first place considering the concept.
Not sure about the beatle kids but I would give Linda a place considering her relationship with Paul and lifetime campaign for animal rights. Linda influenced and inspired many.
