I guess whether you prefer A Day In The Life or the Reprise depends on whether you are a Mod or a Rocker. I like them both, but I can’t think of what to call myself.
I hear you georgiewood, think about that question all the time. The versions of Good Morning () and the Reprise () on Anthology make me think some of the Beatles preferred Rocker!

My favorites are Fixing A Hole , A Day In The Life , and With A Little Help From My Friends . I always thought Paul’s vocals were stunning on Fixing A Hole . He does this thing with his voice at, “That weren’t important… yesterday,” that gets me every time. A Day In The Life is brilliant as well. I love the contrast between John’s spacey, melancholy tune and Paul’s upbeat section, as well as John’s lead vocal. Ringo’s voice was perfect for With A Little Help From My Friends , and adds to the naivety of the song .
The album is great as a whole and it’s hard to pick apart songs because I think of it as one unit. However, those are my favorites!

On any random day I might choose to talk about “Lucy” or “Getting Better ” or “Friends” (but not about either of the 5 minute epics; I’ve nothing new to say). But I’m gonna go with “Good Morning, Good Morning”, partly because I love the animals, especially the MC chicken. But also for being the most harsh and cacophonous track (including odd guitar chords) on a generally “pleasant” album, and for the sense of a man so bored by suburbia that he’s begun to imagine animal stampedes and foxhunts drowning out his television. Plus horns that weirdly sound more fuzzed out than the buried rhythm guitars, a cool screechy solo from Paul, and crazy time changes that Ringo is delighted to navigate, hammering and finessing his way through (with his best stuff saved for the coda.) And the way John makes those many syllables sing and swing during the bridges, and his “Guten morgen!” on the fade. Even the sounds of the horn guys marching in place…so many things!

Getting Better is one I really like, the guitars are really unusual.

vonbontee, ThatWeirdBeatlesGirlI've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

Sgt. Pepper Reprise is sooooo much better than the title song. Sounds even better on the mono version (or the 2017 stereo)

GB is my favourite of Paul’s on Pepper, and that endlessly-repeated note/lick is a huge component. It’s an almost desperately cheerful lick, a sonic clenched-tooth grin like the singer’s really struggling with his supposed optimism, trying to fight off negative feelings that keep nagging. And the contrast of that unnerving lick with the unironically happy and upbeat main electric piano melody might serve as a sonic equivalent of that cheerful/pessimistic split. I’m changing my scene…but man I was mean.

Ugh this is so difficult! Fixing A Hole would be up there for sure, but I’d go with Getting Better . Great beat, great counterpoint from John, inventive drum pattern, awesome bass line, etc.

My favorite Sgt. Pepper song is hands down Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds . I’ve loved it ever since I was a kid and I was completely blown away when I heard the mono mix they included with the 2017 deluxe version.

A Day In The Life . I hated it when I was little (mostly because the Paul part confused me, after all, how do you successfully consume a cup without grinding it up into a paste?) but now it’s like this crazy journey that you go on each time you hear it.
