I don’t know. Of course “Carnival Of Light ” was rejected, because I heard they were scolded (fact from YouTube video about the song). But if it was it would be the longest Beatles song.

There are some songs you could add. (I would add just after Lovely Rita , Because the last ones are kind of medleyed.

It’s All Too Much

Strawberry Fields Forever

Penny Lane

Only A Northern Song

Carnival Of Light

-All Together On The Wireless Machine

I am not right, I am right.

I think the album is perfect as is. While George Martin has said that he regrets putting Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane on the album, i actually really like how these 2 tracks were released as singles because it meant that those who couldn’t afford the album still got to listen to 2 great songs. Not to mention, unlike A Hard Day’s Night , adding a 14th track wouldn’t balance the sides out since the track lengths vary significantly, meaning that side A and B are about the same lengthwise.

It’s All Too Much  was recorded after Pepper was completed, so couldn’t have been considered for the album; while All Together on the Wireless Machine was a radio jingle (possibly) done by Paul, dating to November 1967, long after Pepper‘s release.

Hey Bulldog wasn’t even recorded until 8 months after the album was released.

I think Sgt. Pepper is pretty perfect as it is and flows quite well. However, Paul does dominate the album. One reason for this that John was at least one song short, as he only really had 4 songs, including ‘A Day In The Life ‘ although that is only one less than he had on ‘Revolver ‘. The other reason was that George only had one song on the album instead of his usual two, leaving Paul with the rest of the album.

If there was a 14th song, it would have to be a John song or a George song and of the contenders, the best is undoubtedly, ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘. I know it was previously released, but so was ‘Can’t Buy Me Love ‘ and ‘Ticket To Ride ‘. I always thought that ‘SSF’ would be perfect for starting Side 2 of the album. However, ‘Within You Without You ‘ is a good Side 2 opener as well.

I think Side 2 would work really well if ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘ was Track 1 and Within You Without You ‘ was Track 2, with the rest of the side as it is currently. I think this would give the album a better balance, between Paul songs and John songs, with the added bonus of perhaps their best ever song also being on the album!

Also, imagine an album that included both ‘Strawberry Fields Forever ‘ and ‘A Day In The Life ‘!

That’s not an official studioi album, meanmistermustard. it doesn’t really count. it’s just basically a compilation.

No idea what you’re meaning. Its an album that contains ‘ADITL’ and ‘SFF’ so we don’t have to imagine one. I was being annoyed.

I think he means not a compilation, which would never happen since The Beatles went out of their way to make sure that Sgt. Pepper was released their way internationally.

Another compilation that includes ‘ADITL’ and ‘SFF’, ‘The Beatles Box’; tho ‘SFF’ was on #5 and ‘ADITL’ #6.

Always seemed daft to me to have two ’67 tracks separated from all the others but that set was weird with some of the selections. Why have ‘SFF’ and ‘PL’ on the same record as all the ‘Revolver ‘ material when they could easily have ditched two of the nine ‘Pepper’ tracks. 10 tracks from ‘Revolver ‘ was mad but then it had 13 from ‘Help ‘! 8 from ‘Rubber Soul ‘ as well.

The only song that was recorded during the Peppers sessions that was not released around that time was, “Only A Northern Song “.  So that would be the 14th song.

I get what you are saying but ‘Carnival Of Light ‘ was also recorded (on the 5th January) during the sessions. Whether you would call it is a song is highly debatable (I don’t) but others might as they would call ‘Revolution 9 ‘ a song as well (it’s not).
