In 1992 the Russian St. Petersburg-based record company Antrop released several vinyl LP’s from several artists and groups, like Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, Traveling Wilburys and the Beatles. The album titles and the song titles were translated to Russian. I have the Russian Antrop releases of Help !, Rubber Soul , Revolver and Sgt. Pepper . I also have the Rolling Stones albums Let It Bleed and Sticky Fingers from Antrop. These albums play well. I found out these albums were unofficial releases. Discogs.com, a website for buy/sell records, have blocked all sales of these Russian Antrop releases. The Soviet Union company Melodiya’s 1986 release of A Hard Day’s Night is not blocked on Discogs.com. I bought the above mentioned records on Ebay without any problems. When writing this post, there are still Russian Antrop Beatles albums for sale on Ebay.
Revolver and Sgt. Pepper were originally released as a double album in Russia by Antrop. Does anyone have more information about the Russian lp releases?

When it comes to the legality of certain releases on the international market now, it depends on their legal status in their country of origin when released. AnTrop Records were a pirate record label that existed for a few years in the early ’90s in Russia following the fall of the Soviet Union. Their releases were never legal, not even in Russia, hence many resale markets not dealing in them.
Melodiya, while pretty much a pirate label for most of its existence, in that it released much Western music without permission or paying royalties, was the official State label, and so their releases, which I detail here, were considered legal, and so don’t face the same resale hurdles.

There’s a record store near me that for some reason had heaps of Antrop releases last time I was there, although I didn’t know that was the label at the time because their logo is so darn hard to read.

I remember that couple years ago I discovered the antrop releases on discogs. and I really wanted the White Album one. I’m disappointed that you can’t buy them, or any other unofficial/bootleg releases on discogs anymore. Although once I make some money, I might buy some on musicstacks.
I just really love how some of these covers are made. They are very well done and look very official.

Haha I love the Revolver collage re-do (the artist even replaced Klaus with himself!), but the walrus on that MMT is nightmarish.
