What song on the Please Please Me album recording sheet was spelled wrong and which EMI employee was responsible for it?

I think it is "Anna" (as "Hanna"). I don't know who is responsible for it.

Thank you. I tried reading the recording sheet on the internet, but I couldn't figure out which song was the misspelled wrong. Do you know who is usually responsible for logging the recording sheet in the studio?

I don't know (I'd also like to know who is).

Maybe Richard Langham (2nd engineer)?

Comparing the recording sheets as reproduced in Mark Lewisohn's The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions with a George Martin note of the tracklisting for Rubber Soul  in the same book, they appear to have very similar handwriting.

I assumed it was Richard Langham as well. It seemed like something a 2nd engineer could be tasked to do.

Thanks for the information mja6758. I don't have the book, and only have the images on the internet to rely on.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying it's George Martin. I'm saying handwriting seems similar. But I do think it likely, especially at that very early stage when his time would have been in the control room, and the recording sheets were notes for what he was going to do with, and where to look on, the tapes recorded that day. But keep an eye on the thread, because someone could easily come in and contradict me.

I see this topic is quite old but I thought I'd respond anyway. Traditionally second engineers or assistant engineers had the task of doing the documentation. The thinking at the time was that by having the second engineers do documentation they would be learning the skills of the lead engineer. And the lead engineer was then free to do what they do best while making sure that whatever they did was properly documented.
