Man, after hearing Anna (Go To Him) on the beach that compelled me to listen to PPM again. And Anna is my favourite vocal from the album. John really gave that song emotion and power. People who love Lennon’s voice should love this song. It’s pure Lennon.

There’s a lot of great vocal performances on this album. Anna, Baby It’s You , Chains , Boys , and I Saw Her Standing There all come to mind but I have to say that Twist And Shout is the one that I like the most.

And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

Twist And Shout is amazing, but it makes my throat hurt just listening to it.

I know what you mean. I think I like it more knowing that it was the last song of a full day of recording and John’s voice was gone and he belts it out like he does.

It is an amazing performance.

It certainly makes the vocal performance more powerful and triumphant when you know the story behind it.

My absolute favorite Lennon vocals are on this album. Anna (Go To Him) is probably the first Beatles song I fell in love with. The vocals are AMAZING! I love the lyrics (Even though they didn’t write them)

Baby It’s You is also amazing and of course Twist And Shout is as well.

George’s vocals fit Do You Wanna Know A Secret very well. And his accent really shows, which I think fit the song even better.

As for Paul on this album.. He’s done much better. I Saw Her Standing There is a great vocal.. but the rest of the album.. it isn’t bad at all, just not his best.

The vocals on Anna are really great, particularly in the shift up to the fourth in the “All of my life” section

I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I’ll just hop on the Anna-appreciation train because I’ve always loved that song. One of the highlights of the album for me, even though it’s a cover.

The boys were superb at the very beginning, voices full of teen spirit. John’s vocal performance is like exploding rock power–Anna, Please Please Me , Baby It’s You , Twist And Shout , (and others)all stunning. Paul contributes perhaps my favourite song of his, I Saw Her Standing There . (And did someone mention A Taste Of Honey ?) George makes lovely tunes, and Boys might be my favourite Ringo vocal.

PPM is such a pleasant album. Among their early era, I’ll rank it only behind Help .

Besides Twist And Shout , which needs no explanation, I love the vocals on There’s A Place . The harmonies are amazing throughout the album especially on that song. Anna is another one of my favorites, and for some reason, I really like Boys . I also love George’s accent on Do You Want To Know A Secret . ahdn_george_08

Anna is a Lennon masterclass. Some of his best vocals, his voice really soars. Loved hearing it on Waikiki Beach!

The vocals on There’s A Place is really great for sure. I really like the concept of the song too, it’s a bit like The Beach Boys ‘ In My Room.
