So you wouldnt want something like this @thisbirdhasflown (welcome back by the way, was wondering if you had indeed flown)?
Seriously, who thought that was a good idea and that it should be unleashed on humanity?
As Richie once cried “i want me mam!!”

No I definitely wouldn’t want something like that! That is the total opposite of what should be remixed @meanmistermustard and @Zig.
(P.S. Thanks! I hadn’t flown but it sure feels like it!!!)
By hook or by crook, I'll be last in this book.

Has to be done tho more overdubbing crap on top than being a true remix.
Whatever became of ‘Reloved‘, the “new fabulous … cutting-edge album created with modern tastes in mind [which was] a new milestone for the greatest and most influential act of the rock era and a must have for every Beatles fan”? So must have it never got out to the public.

On topic, I’ll be honest and say that I hated the idea of Love at first. I didn’t buy the album for years after it was released. Once I actually bought the album, I liked it.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.
Most likely to post things that make you go hmm... 2015, 2016, 2017.

Man, that’s a really lazy remix. All that’s different about it is that there’s a new drumbeat and a new, very simplistic, bassline. If you’re going to do a remix, at least try to make it sound more than slightly different from the original.

I’ve been resisting it as well – for no good reason, really. I can’t tell you how many times I had it in my hands at the music store and put it back on the shelf. Maybe it’s time to pull the trigger.

Its one of the few Beatles albums i can never find any desire for, a few tracks in and i end up turning over to something else. I like remixes but find many of these to be so close to the original that aside from the aspect of “is that the flute from Help !?” they hold no real interest. The more i hear fan remixes the more safe the Apple reworkings seem for the majority.
Oh and i cannot stress how much i detest the orchestral overdubs on WMGGW, horrible and utterly unnecessary.

Yeah, maybe I’ll wait a little longer and spend my dough on stuff I really do want. With the noteable exception of Von Bontee’s masterpieces, I generally do not enjoy remixes/mashups.

I haven’t heard Von Bontee’s stuff. Can you post it on the Incredibly Impossible thread?

They’re here in post #38, @thisbirdhasflown . I’m afraid the links my have breathed their last, however. You will have to check with Von.

I like it for what it is. A soundtrack to a live show.
Some songs are done well and some are not, like I Want To Hold Your Hand live!

Why they decided to fake a live ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand ‘ by vomiting a screaming audience over a 1:13 edit of the commercial version when they have a selection of concert performances in the archives to pick from is beyond me. Other things bug me like the needless ‘Blackbird ‘ guitar bit before Yesterday , it doesnt even segue seamlessly.
If you are looking to buy ‘Love’ get the audio-only DVD over the cd as you get the full ‘Back In The U.S.S.R.’ and ‘Revolution ‘ instead of edits (presumably created so it all fit on a cd).

I can only assume that they couldn’t find good sound for a remix album(Why did the teenage girls have to scream?) I guess they stiched Blackbird with Yesterday because they are both done on acoustic guitar. Plus the two iTunes bonus tracks are The Fool in the Hill and Girl, and I don’t have those.

I don’t listen to ‘Love’ that often (i think since it came out i’ve not even close to 10 plays) so was surprised to read the following excerpt from a feature on easter eggs in Beatles songs, this particular one being the expletive in ‘Hey Jude :
The version of the song used by Cirque du Soleil for their show Love cuts out this background expletive, and also altered the tone of the song going into the uproarious chorus – the lead-in lyric is “Let her into your heart” instead of the swear-covered “Let her under skin”.
So i went and played that section of the song and yip Apple edited the swearing out (i’m aware the song is heavily edited elsewhere) .
Must have been another slow day for the Apple staff.

Wouldn’t that have been Giles? If not the work itself then the direction?
By-the-way….I like it……Different way of hearing the old stuff. I even enjoyed ‘Stars on 45’ sound alike disco beated ‘beatles’….That got a lot of people into ‘No Reply ‘

It’s what we do, to be fair every time I see the first Ed Sullivan show, I’m a screaming mess (well silent screaming, I do share a house with other people who haven’t found out I’m a nutter…yet )
I like Love although I don’t listen to it as often as I used to. However, it’s nice to listen to a track or two (or five) every now and again particularly if I’m doing something, it’s good background noise

I thought they put a great mix on every song, and incorporated so many different songs, whether it be a guitar riff or a horse noise. Definitely the coolest transition was “Being For the Benefit of Mr. Kite” into “Helter Skelter / I Want you”

To be honest i’ve only just recently heard this for the first time as i had the idea that it would be some kind of “stars on 45” medley of the beatles catalogue.
Its a whole lot cleverer than that in fact and the sound quality is fantastic, but to be honest it has even less repeat playability than the anthology stuff. One play was enough.
