Let It Be is a somewhat controversial album. It should be appreciated for what it is: a project that was more or less successful, but still showcasing talented songwriters. Paul did his best (perhaps too much at times) to keep the band together, but John and George were already moving in different directions. The cheezy production by Phil Spector will not be addressed.

  1. Let It Be (A+)
A great melody, beautiful piano, and moving lyrics. The solo by George is also a nice touch. Paul at his best. A top masterpiece.

  2. Across The Universe (A)
A stunning melody and timeless lyrics. A masterpiece by John, recorded a few months earlier.

  3. Get Back (B+)
A great blues-rock track that drives the album. Billy Preston’s electric piano is outstanding. A classic.

  4. Two of Us (B)
A nice song with a very good melody.

  5. I've Got A Feeling (B)
A great collaboration between Paul and John. Billy Preston delivers another great performance on the electric piano.

  6. Dig A Pony (B)
A bit messy, but with a great vocal performance by John and excellent guitar work by George.

  7. The Long And Winding Road (B)
A very well-made song, but a little too plaintive for some tastes.

  8. I Me Mine (C+)
A nice track that blends a waltz with rock.

  9. For You Blue (C)
A gentle blues song by George. Good, but not particularly memorable.

  10. One After 909 (C)
A basic Rock 'N' Roll track. Fun, but not especially memorable.

  11. Maggie Mae (D)
    A filler track.

  12. Dig It (D)
A jam that primarily serves to fill out the album.

Get Back B-side:

Don't Let Me Down (B+)
A great performance by John. The melody, lyrics, and arrangement are inspired. Billy Preston and George both deliver solid contributions. Very good.

I became a real Beatles fan in 2008 after attending Paul's concert in Quebec City.

Favorite Album: Revolver and The White Album
Favorite song by John : Strawberry Fields Forever || Favorite song by Paul : Eleanor Rigby
Favorite song by George : While My Guitar Gently Weeps
