Ordered. It’s a shame they couldn’t have included A/B Road as bonus discs. But I appreciate the fact that they are using the CD as an art form and releasing an EP. It’s very retro.

‘LIBN’ is a complete waste of time and should be buried alongside long-forgotten compilations such as ‘Beatles Ballads’, ‘Rock And Roll Music ’ and ‘Reel Music’.
Was listening to ‘Suzy’s Parlour’ a couple of days ago and that is the kind of thing this set should include; the band are incredibly tight and clearly having great fun together on an unreleased original number.
I wonder if John’s comment of “who the f**k’s Doris?!’ is omitted from ‘STLDFM’/DLMD’? Can’t remember when Johns edited it out and pretty sure the Beatles aren’t allowed to swear nowadays.

I can’t help thinking this box set misses the mark somewhat, particularly the absence of the rooftop concert
Totally agree Joe.
I think every Beatles fan in the world cant wait to hear the whole rooftop concert. I’ll assume we will get it from the Blu ray movie.

I really like Naked considerably. I understand people not liking it because of the fact that several takes were spliced together into one, so therefore, to them, it doesn’t quite live up to the name, and think that using complete takes of songs and leaving all the chatter and coughs and such in would be better.
But I personally find it to be my favorite version of the album, with the unadorned simplicity that was the original intent of the project. Not to mention the perfect way for Paul’s revenge on Spector. Sad, though, that it had to happen at the same time that Spector murdered a woman.

This is particularly disappointing given the amount of material out there. I can’t help thinking that grey market CD’s will have a field day as a result of the 50 year passing and Apple have really missed a trick. What’s wrong with Watching Rainbows? Sure, not all The Beatles are on it, but that’s the same with Yesterday , You Know My Name, The Ballard of John and Yoko, and multiple others. The Palace of the King of Birds, Suzy’s Parlour, loads of stuff to choose from. They must be reserving the complete rooftop concert, can’t believe there’s so little from the most joyous part of the whole proceedings.

Something to look forward to. I suspect they always like having unreleased content up their sleeve for the future. There’s power in that strategy whether we like it or not. Hoping to see some runtimes for these outtakes. They’re what I’m most eager to hear.

I was wondering why this thread hadn’t popped into my unread threads because of that trailer release, I loaded it and I had nearly 20 unread threads! How odd?
Anyway…
Yet again, Apple missing a trick. I appreciate releasing an EP is cool and all but… Surely for the digital release you add some bonus tracks to it?
And no disc for the rooftop concert. Oh Apple…

I wonder if they planned the rooftop for disc 5 but Disney had a legal strop which changed the plans and now we’ve got an EP. It just seems bizarre having a 14 minute CD in an age where everyone is heavy on reducing our plastic usage, especially when it would easily fit on another disc.

Is this EP a new creation, or was there an old Let It Be EP? I honestly don’t know.

New, @Expert Textpert. The two Glyn Johns’ mixes on it are both previously unreleased.

My suspicion is that there wasn’t a legal wrangling – Disney, mighty as they are, probably don’t have authority over the Beatles in matters such as this. Instead I think they probably looked at how to maximise the sales, realised that the biggest selling point and climax of the Peter Jackson film was the entire Apple rooftop show, and decided not to spoil it by releasing the audio a month early.
We’re getting a 105-page book in the box set, and another 240-page book to coincide with the Jackson doc. There’s unlikely to be too much crossover in that content – they’re not daft and, Let It Be EP excepted, Apple don’t seem to want to short change the fans. Look at the recent Plastic Ono/Imagine books and box sets to see how they can charge us twice for similar-but-different content.
So, my prediction is that there’ll be THE BEATLES: APPLE ROOFTOP LIVE 1969 as a live album to coincide with the Jackson doc Blu-ray/DVD release next year, just as they put out Live At The Hollywood Bowl with the Ron Howard doc (although that album came out to coincide with the cinema release).

My prediction remains that there will be an audio soundtrack released alongside the DVD/Blu-ray, “Peter Jackson’s Get Back : The Soundtrack”, that will include the full rooftop along with other recordings that are used in the series that aren’t on the LIB deluxe, running to two or three discs, but not as heavily packaged, giving it a cheaper price point.

Considering The Beatles history with wasting CD’s (1962-1966, Fly On The Wall, and the 1992 CD release of the MMT EP come to mind), it doesn’t surprise me too much that they’d do something like this. Hopefully, Ron Nasty’s right and we get the full rooftop concert on CD.

The ‘92 release of ‘MMT’? Wasn’t that an EP Cd box set filled with something like 13 EPs on CDs? Don’t think that one counts.
I’ll give you ‘FOTW’.
Here’s hoping Joe and Ron are right.

I think Joe, you might be onto something. Very good chance we’ll get it in December or something like that. Or maybe 30 Jan next year?
Interestingly, for all the stick Glyn Johns got for his mix – the 3 song teaser they released with Johns’ mix of For You Blue has actually made me like the song, I’ve always hated the song (and Spector’s mix of it).

I am enjoying 3 of the Glyn Johns mixes we have heard so far.
What Let It Be 50th anniversary editions will everyone be getting? I will be getting the 2CD edition.
