Woo-Hoo! I thought I was the only one who liked it. I gets little love in these pages.
Overall, a great album. I've said before that if I were to introduce The Beatles to someone who had never heard their music, Id start with this album or possibly AHDN .

Although I only own the US release, which is kind of just a half a Beatles album, looking at the UK list of songs, it's another upward bit of progress. "Hide Your Love Away", "Help " & "Ticket To Ride " definitely showed new maturity.
"Dizzy Miss Lizzy " is about as badass as JL had got to that point. Clapton's guitar improves it on the Live Peace in Tortonto version, but this Lennon vocal is one of his greatest, within the "rough" category.

Anyroad, , back on topic, I agree with Zig on it being a good introductory album, as that's how I introduced my friends to it. (Edit: It being The Beatles, I guess they're inanimate objects now

It is the worst album they did between 1965-1967
What?! How can any album with Help !, Yesterday , and Ticket To Ride be the worst? I'd say it's my fourth or fifth favorite Beatles album. The others being Rubber Soul , Revolver , Please Please Me , and Let It Be ...Naked. (But, not in that order.)

I think Help is a rung under Rubber Soul , Revolver , etc. But I think that’s a good thing, because the guys were evolving and moving towards that standard.

«Help !» is really a great album. I prefer the UK version. Perhaps this album has been underrated in the same way as their previous album, Beatles For Sale . The songs were written and recorded in between tours, live performances and the filming of their second movie Help . The Beatles showed that they were able to make two really great albums and several smash hit singles every year during 1963-65. In the same period they were on tours in many countries around the World. In the same period they also made 2 movies. The pressure on the Beatles and the people who worked with them was extreme.
Some people have Help as their favourite Beatles album. Some people really likes that album, but have another favourite Beatles album. Other people like the Help album a little bit, and some people don’t like it at all. Some people think Help is better than Rubber Soul , and other people think Rubber Soul is better than Help . That’s up to them.

Help was actually my favorite album for a Long, Long, Long time. It was only recently that I decided it's unfair to the other albums to give it that title, and now I have four favorite: Help , Rubber Soul , AHDN , and Revolver , not in any particular order. Not to say the other albums aren't fantastic, because they are. But Help is seriously special. It's got Yesterday . It's got Ticket To Ride . It's got You're Gonna Lose That Girl. It's got The Night Before and Help and I've Just Seen A Face and I Need You and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away and Another Girl and It's Only Love and Dizzy Miss Lizzy and Tell Me What You See and You Like Me Too Much and Act Naturally and yes I do realize I just listed every song on the album. Because it is an amazing and fantastic album and I love it and it's underrated and this is a very grammatically incorrect sentence but I don't care I love Help .

Help ! is a great album! How can any album that contains the title song, Ticket To Ride , Yesterday , You've Got To Hide Your Love Away , and I've Just Seen A Face not be a great album? To me, there are only two bad songs: Tell Me What You See and You Like Me Too Much . So, 12 out of 14 is a pretty good result. Plus, the movie songs take me back to what I thought was a very happy, cool movie. And, I love that it ends with Dizzy Miss Lizzy !
Final word is...Help ! is great! It's in my top 6 for the Beatles, for sure.
If I were stranded on a deserted island and could only bring one album with me, it would be Revolver.
I just hope that I would have some means of playing it. Ha ha!

The string arrangement in Yesterday is very beautiful. I don't care too much about the rest of the song. I used to like it when i was a kid and discovering their music, though.
Dizzy Miss Lizzy sounds kinda boring to me and the guitar lick is quite repetitive and i think the song lacks the energy that other rock and rollers like bad boy , Long Tall Sally , Twist And Shout had.
I love Help ! I enjoyed it a lot when i got it. They were still having fun being the beatles and it shows. The music is very pleasant and upbeat.

2 great albums, but I'd introduce the 1973 Red 1962-1966 album to a nubby. Many great songs from your 2 picks and more.....

I've never been its biggest fan, but I recently met someone whose favourite Beatles album is this one. He reckons it's the perfect encapsulation of the band before they started really branching out, which is a good point.
Personally, I find there is a big gap in quality between the amazing tracks (Yesterday , Help !, You've Got To Hide Your Love Away , It's Only Love , I've Just Seen A Face ) and the others, particularly The Night Before , Another Girl , Tell Me What You See and Dizzy Miss Lizzy . The latter is the only track I'd say it outright bad, though, I just find the others mildly uninteresting.
Tall, dark-haired QuarryMan likes basketball, music, and naturally, boys. He was a valuable participant on the track team. He is one of Freeport's great contributors to the recording world. As for the immediate future, QuarryMan has no plans, but will take life as it comes.
