What do you think is the best Beatles album, what do you think is the worst? Please put in your listings. (This includes Magical Mystery Tour and Yellow Submarine .) [Note: This also includes the stuff George Martin did on Yellow Submarine like “Pepperland “. THANKS!

I don’t think they have a “worse” album, I can’t even phrase it that way. The one I listen to the least I guess is “With the Beatles” but I still really love it. If I had to put them in order that would have to be the last…
Best is Sgt Pepper always and forever.

Seems a bit subjective, but I can tell you the ones I like best and least (at the moment):
Like best: Tie between Revolver and The Beatles
Like least: Yellow Submarine

The best is Revolver , the best album ever by anyone. A sonic masterpiece, filled with great songs and arrangements. Extremely varied and, at the same time, with a unity to it.
The worst is Let it be. Comparatively mediocre stuff, pretentious, disjointed and sometimes uninspired.
Comments welcome!

Which I like best: Rubber Soul , Revolver , Magical Mystery Tour and Abbey Road (what, how can one choose? It’s impossible!)
Which I like least: With the Beatles and Beatles For Sale . I even like Let it be more.
The rest is kinda stuck in the middle I guess.

This topic already exists as “favorite etc.”, and sorry, see associated rants elsewhere, Magical Mystery Tour is NOT! a fecking Beatles album. It is a fecking compilation put together by Capitol Records, and if that’s included why not others! I vote for 1980’s The Beatles Box!

mja, MMT has been adopted as a core Beatles album. I know, i know, its a Capitol creation etc etc but it is now viewed as being so and has been since 1987. All the other compilations (UK and US) have not been inserted into the 13, or is it 14, albums you need to have all the recordings they put out thru general release between 1962 & 1970 (Please Please Me -> Let It Be + Past Masters (Oldies But Goldies being superseded by Past Masters )).
And anyway what about those fans who grew up with Something New, Beatles VI etc, who is anyone to say to them you can’t have Meet The Beatles as their favourite album?
And to be pedantic its an album consisting of solely Beatles tracks so technically it is.
And mods, can this be moved to an already existing relevant thread?

Then why not include Past Masters 1 & 2? I have no problem with the question, “Best (and worse) Beatles Albums – based on the 1980s CD releases”. PM‘s is as much a part of core collection. I just object when it’s made to sound as if MMT is part of the run of official UK albums that they released (which YS can claim to be be).
I’d have no problem with the question, “Best (and worse) Beatles Albums – issued anywhere before they split” (which would include those US albums that are so loved by so many as they are how they first heard things). I just object to to the insertion of MMT into the run of Beatles conceived albums.
One reason for this, though not the only, is people losing sight of what MMT is. A good example, and I can’t remember exactly where – but I think it was MMT in the main section – was somebody saying in the comments section that it was a better album than those (Sgt. Pepper and White) either side of it.
There has to be a point where we say – these are their albums, and the rest are albums compiling Beatles material. MMT (magnificent as it is) is not, and will never be, one of those albums that they spent time, energy, and thought into putting together and offered the world as their next statement. The follow-up to Pepper was the White – and it pains me to see people blurring that.

I get what you are saying but you could also argue that “Best (and Worse) Beatles Albums”, or however the question gets worded, is open house to include all albums from Please Please Me thru to Bootleg Recording Sessions 1963″, every single one put out in whatever country is a Beatles album regardless of how you (again general) see it.
Oxford Dictionaries defines album as “a collection of recordings issued as a single item on CD, record, or another medium”, it doesn’t break them down into categories.

However, the OP in this thread did define it. I disagree with part of the definition.

My favorite are Revolver , Sgt.Pepper’s, and of course Abbey Road . I guess the American Hey Jude doesn’t really count. However, if LOVE counts that’s my favorite.

I think their best work was from ’65-’69 although I love Hard Day’s Night and Help ! I think they became great when Rubber Soul was released I can’t really get into Please Please Me , With The Beatles and Beatles For Sale . my favorite album is Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

I think they’re all the best but my favorites are, in no particular order:
- Revolver
- Abbey Road
- AHDN
- MMT
- The White Album
I need to stop there or else I’d list them all… I really love PPM and Rubber Soul etc…
But the worst, not because it’s bad, just because there are only 3 new Beatles songs and half George Martin (although I love the compositions) is Yellow Submarine .
Love ’em all to much…

I’m just going to say “favorite” and “least favorite,” since this is a question about opinion, not fact.
My favorite is Sgt. Pepper ‘s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
My least favorite is between Beatles For Sale and Yellow Submarine . I don’t dislike either, I just don’t like them nearly as much as the others.
I'm Necko. I'm like Ringo except I wear necklaces.
I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Wow. Their first LP that started it all, and it’s considered a worst! (nothing wrong with that, to each their own)
Definitely worst has to be Yellow Submarine . 2 songs that were already out earlier in:
& Yellow Submarine , and a whole Side B of crap from George Martin from the movie.
Only thing that saves this LP is side the 4 original songs on Side A with:
This LP must have been a contractual throw out to keep the brass happy!
