Ok – so I’ve had a good look and to me they look real, done in a light pen more like a felt nib so not many indents but certainly do appear to be some in places. I have tried to catch these with the flash. At the same time these look too neat and strategically placed to be quick handed autographs so would really appreciate some oppinions.

Firstly, the advice I would give is to approach a reputable auction house known for dealing in music memorabilia such as Sotherby’s or Bonhams. They will have experts who will know if they are right or wrong. A good auction house will usually give an opinion and valuation for free.
That said, and obviously it is impossible to offer a definitive opinion from photographs (especially since the background on which they’re written make some harder to make out than others), so this is just my opinion on having downloaded your images and rotated them to have a proper look.
I’m afraid that they don’t look quite right to me, and I would lean toward them being either Neil Aspinall or Mal Evans examples (who often signed on their behalf).
However, as I have already said, the only way to know if they are right or wrong is to have an expert look at them in person.

@Tangerine Rock And Roll Music , Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby , Words Of Love , and Honey Don’t are better covers than Kansas City imo, although Honey Don’t and Kansas City are very very close.

I agree that KC is a close second to R&RM.
Words Of Love , to me, is just too close to be up there. Listen to the original and their cover, it’s a case of spot the differences.
They usually put their own stamp onto their covers, even something like Paul’s take Little Richard’s Long Tall Sally where he goes full-out Richard, but WoL just feels too much of a Xerox to me.

Perhaps you are in need of a relisten– I could see Kansas City being better than Honey Don’t , but Words Of Love puts it to shame. And I actually like Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby , thanks very much.
I like your new sig, btw
Edit: Sorry Ron, didn’t see your post, I was responding to Kaniffee’s. As for a Xerox cover, I really don’t mind that at all. I almost prefer Xerox covers, in most cases.

Myself, @50yearslate, I don’t see the point of a cover that’s just a Xerox of the original, you might as well just to listen to the original. The Beatles, with their covers, were so good at owning them, making them Beatles songs, but with WoL we get something so close it’s hard to see anything they’ve brought to the party.
As I said, I like their version, I just wouldn’t rate it as among their best covers because they do nothing with it but play Buddy’s version.

This is the reason I generally don’t like covers. And the reason I like Beatles covers (the Beatles covering other artists, not other artists covering Beatles) is just because of the little Beatlenesses the originals don’t have, such John/George/Paul/Ringo’s voices. Also, in most instances I haven’t heard the original and don’t have anything to compare it to.

By all means, you are entitled to that opinion, but I personally think Words Of Love is a better song.

My fav Beatles For Sale cover is Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby . I think Rock And Roll Music sound just quite monotonous and flat.

Some of the songs on “Beatles For Sale ” are all time classics, some are great and the rest well they do seem to reflect what was said about the album.
And that was they were pressed for time and exhausted when they recorded this album and had some fillers in there or at least to me they seemed like fillers.
Beatles Classics
Eight Day’s A Week
I Don’t Want To Spoil The Party
Beatles Greats
What You’re Doin’
Words Of Love (yes, not a Beatles song but a great performance and recording)
The rest just don’t seem to move me, not that they are bad it’s just that the others blow them away. I did not get “Beatles For Sale ” in real time, I got it on CD in 1987.
The songs on this album were scattered around on other albums that Capitol put together for the US market. And I was to young to buy LPs prior to the US release of “Rubber Soul “.

This was my favourite Beatles album as a teenager (100 or so years ago). I don’t think its’ aged as well as other (and especially later) albums. I think the fact this it is different is what makes it special: the Beatles were not just going to keep regurgitating the same stuff. They were on a growth path that very few performers are ever lucky or talented enough to be on.

What are the differences in your opinion, @JW OBoogie ? I find the large amount of covers makes it fairly monotonous within the early work.
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,
I've sat there on the barstool and I've looked him in the face.
He seemed a little haggard, but it did not slow him down,
he was humming to the neon of the universal sound.

I agree that it’s unfortunately overladen with covers when the previous album was all originals. But, I find the originals to be better than previously albums. I actually find I’m A Loser , Baby’s In Black and No Reply to be refreshingly candid and not the usual boy meets girl / she loves you / etc. Although it’s more Lennon than McCartney at this stage, the Beatles are already moving away from the standard 3 minute love song that seemed to dominate at that time to other topics.

I think that the all original numbers on ‘AHDN ‘ should see that album be praised for such an achievement instead of the regular beatings that ‘BFS’ gets for including covers. The Beatles schedule in mid-late 1964 was utterly insane and for an album as good as ‘BFS’ to be produced was an incredible achievement.
It’s not as a high a standard throughout as their previous releases but it’s a damn fine piece of work which most groups of that time would have loved to have tossed out.
