I wonder if these typos were on the originals?

On Another Beatles Christmas Record it says Paul treated the staff to dinner at a “steakhousel.”

And on Pantomime George Martin is referred to as “the produced.”

So Pantomime is a new typo and the other typo is original.

I don’t get what’s so special about this release, they’re taking The Beatles 7 unscripted Christmas EP’s, throwing on some noise reduction which I think is unnecessary for albums originally given to people for free, and releasing them on 7 7 inch records just like they did in the 60’s as opposed to 12 inch, CD, or digital download, seems like some super gimmicky box set to me.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

It’s special because the original records were never going to be re-pressed again. Now they have been, and the records are actually better this time because they are vinyl instead of cheap flexi-discs. It’s for completists who prefer the physical product over just having the mp3s.

An interesting article from Variety on the history of the Christmas records.

By the way, @Dark Overlord, many of the discs were scripted by Tony Barrow, and any listen to the discs shows them often taking the mickey of Barrow’s scripts.

I also ordered this box late last year and as a collector I’m very satisfied with the box. Maybe a little expensive, but anyway… a true collectors item. BUT – I should been more satisfied if also a high resolution digital disc had been included with the box. OK, vinyl discs are more “hot” today than they had been for several decades.

On the other hand… these recordings are made for more or less 50 years ago so maybe not a high resolution digital disc had been so successful.

I saw a page there other Beatles collectors not were so happy.

Very happy with mine.

Have only listened to the first one, and I’m impressed (again) with how effortlessly funny they were. Played it on my radio show and got a lot of good feedback. Not waiting until Christmas to play the next one!

I actually like the packaging. (It was a gift, so I definitely got someone’s money’s worth!)
