Hmm. I’ve thought about adding “Paperback Writer ” and “Rain ” to Revolver before, thus making the best Beatles album even better! But there’s a problem: One of the essential aspects of Revolver for me is that (1) no two consecutive songs have the same lead vocalist; and (2) there aren’t two back-to-back guitar rockers anywhere on the album. How do I best fit those two tracks in while preserving that aspect? Only one optimum way:

Offline ^ That must of taken some time. It’s very strange reading about 70s and 80s ”beatles” albums, tho I think they would have definitely broken up after John’s death in ’80, if in some paralell universe they stayed together in the seventies.
Moving along in our God given ways, safety is sat by the fire/Sanctuary from these feverish smiles, left with a mark on the door.

Your list is interesting Beatles in the Blood, but I think as you plow on to create Beatles albums out of the solo albums. It seems more like a list of your favourite solo material balanced out and spread out to form albums. You have Whatever Gets You Thru The Night and Nobody Loves You When You’re Down and Out not appearing until ’78 and ’79 respectively. Is it really credible that John would have sat on those two 1974 songs for so long?

Offline Okay, pretty impressive given your age. I’m not going to treat you any different to anyone else here though. That would be patronizing.
I don’t know if you have access to YouTube, but if you do go to a channel by a guy called Lennonology, who collects together all of John’s home demos between 1975 and 1980. It will open you eyes as to what John could have been bringing to the table during those years. Wonderful wonderful songs like Memories and Howling at the Moon.

Offline Glad to help. The story that John didn’t pick up a guitar for five years is a myth, just a part of the publicity for Double Fantasy . If you’re going to do something like you’ve attempted, the hours of demos and covers he recorded during the house-husband can’t be ignored. I’d just recommend you skip the bits listed as Audio Diary. They’re quite uncomfortable listening. Overall though, it just shows Yoko hasn’t released that much of what John was doing during his last years.

Since you quote my original complaint to Beatles in the Blood EXACTLY, let me say that after being pointed to the Lennon home demos, he went back and did a very good of reworking his list (which is the post before “your” point) to take into account material he had been unaware of, and it allowed Sam to place the two songs I questioned back in 1974 in a much improved list that placed things pretty much where they belong chronologically (even if he did miss out one or two of John’s demos that I would have included).

Offline I am a die hard fan of Beatles and their songs. I have wide collection of all of their music albums released yet in my wardrobe. ‘Let it Be’ and ‘Please Please Me ‘ are my favorites among them. I am sure they are the one who rules the musical world of today. Keep rocking.
