I have a sneaking suspicion that there would be a good deal less criticism had the LIBN/LIB movie film been the version which was out there from the start, and not the overblown bombastic version with Spector’s overdubbed orchestra and heavenly choir. TLAWR should be a bittersweet little song of regret rather than an overwrought drama queen anthem.

For $hits and giggles here’s my “Greatest Flops“, I would put in LP order:
1) Anna (Go To Him)
2) Till There Was You ( I always cringe when I hear this)
3) I’m Happy Just To Dance With You
4) Honey Don’t
6) Revolution 9
7) Good Night
8) Honey Pie
10) Her Majesty ‘
11) Maggie Mae
* As you can see, it was hard for me to pick a bad song from Rubber Soul (UK version), right up to Magical Mystery Tour , but surely some will disagree!
I would like this album.
Ha-ha, actually I wouldn’t be too upset with it either, other than Revolution 9 & Good Night . I would skip those as well as Till There Was You , but again, that’s 3 songs out of an album, whereas most bands would be lucky to have 3 good songs on 1 album

I prefer Spector’s versions. Let It Be Naked is boring and sterile sounding.

I don’t understand why people dislike Long Long Long, Dig It , Dig A Pony , All Together Now , Good Night , and Her Majesty . Great songs.

I’ve read lots elsewhere on here that’s critical of this song………Just down to taste…….And many share it. ??
I’ve noticed too, though the reasons vary. To me, Phil Spector doing the production has nothing to do with it. Until very recently, I had no idea George Martin wasn’t involved in this album. I’m just a lover of Beatles music, I don’t get too involved in all the drama.
Like I said, I don’t hate the song. It’s just not exciting at all. It just lacks a certain je ne sais quoi.
@Expert Textpert Well, I can’t understand why you listed some of the songs you did, either. Tastes differ. It’d seem you’ve got a preference for John and George’s songs, whereas most of my favourites are Paul’s. It’s all a matter of preference, isn’t it?

I like Paul’s songs. I just tend to like his songs post-1966 instead of pre-1966. I like “Your Mother Should Know ,” and “Fixing A Hole ” for example. His pre-1966 songs tend toward the schmaltzy, and his pot-1966 songs tend toward the silly, so I don’t like everything he’s done. I do think he has great talent and I like a lot of his solo career.

Very interesting idea, so get prepared for the most uncomfortable Beatles album you’ve ever seen:
How Wayne Views The Beatles
Side A:
Side B:
With A Little Help From My Friends (no bass track)
Flying (Acapella)
12 Bar Original (Acapella)
Cry For A Shadow (Acapella)
Let It Be (single version)
Dizzy Miss Lizzy (isolated double tracked lead guitar)

Sure, but you had some great ones on your list too! And you’d probably find a coupla great ones on my album if I compiled one…
GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

^^^ every single one of those are in my top 50 Beatles songs. Which I think is the hidden purpose of this thread: while one may not like a Beatles song, there will always be someone else who does, cause the Beatles are AWESOME!

My going, one from each album
- ‘A Taste Of Honey ‘ – Paul boring John, George and so many others.
- ‘Hold Me Tight ‘ – No idea when I last heard this pile of garbage and I hope it’s a long time to come till the next I do.
- ”Can’t Buy Me Love ‘ – It’s ok; hard to pick from the album.
- ‘Eight Days A Week ‘ – Faked enthusiasm throughout, at least ‘Mr Moonlight ‘ has that intro.
- ‘Another Girl ‘ – It’s good but ‘Help !’ is such a strong album for individual tracks
- ‘Nowhere Man ‘ – Dull and feels like it lasts far longer than it does.
- ‘Eleanor Rigby ‘ – If not the 2015 ‘1+’ mix I find the song lacking.
- ‘With A Little Help From My Friends ‘ – Never cared for this. Meh.
- ‘Your Mother Should Know ‘ – Offical running time 2:29, feels like 5 minutes.
- ‘The Continually Boring Story of Bungalow Bill’ – John tells a story of someone else which is instantly forgettable.
- ‘Only A Northern Song ‘ – George moans and for once nothing comes over the horizon to the rescue.
- ‘Because ‘ – The gorgeous harmonies do not save it.
- ‘Across The Universe ‘ – The ‘Let It Be ‘ mix sucks so badly.
- ‘Across The Universe ‘ – The ‘Past Masters ‘ mix sucks so badly (i’m ignoring the German tracks).
Very Paul heavy, George and Ringo represented, John on too.

Now that i think about it, this isn’t the best concept because one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. For example, while i think Nowhere Man is one of my favorite songs of all time, easily making it in my top 5 Beatles songs, meanmistermustard doesn’t like it and while i think A Hard Day’s Night is dull and boring and is easily the worst track on the album, many people like it. It shows how one person’s least favorite song can be another person’s favorite song.
If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

I only really like AHDN for the guitar work.

I need to correct my list as I forgot about a song, so the updated tracklisting is as follows:
- ‘A Taste Of Honey‘ – Paul boring John, George and so many others.
- ‘Hold Me Tight‘ – No idea when I last heard this pile of garbage and I hope it’s a long time to come till the next I do.
- ”Can’t Buy Me Love‘ – It’s ok; hard to pick from the album.
- ‘Medley: Kansas City /Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey!’ – So boring a cover I forgot it existed when compiling the list above, which says everything.
- ‘Another Girl‘ – It’s good but ‘Help!’ is such a strong album for individual tracks
- ‘Nowhere Man‘ – Dull and feels like it lasts far longer than it does.
- ‘Eleanor Rigby‘ – If not the 2015 ‘1+’ mix I find the song lacking.
- ‘With A Little Help From My Friends‘ – Never cared for this. Meh.
- ‘Your Mother Should Know‘ – Offical running time 2:29, feels like 5 minutes.
- ‘The Continually Boring Story of Bungalow Bill’ – John tells a story of someone else which is instantly forgettable.
- ‘Only A Northern Song‘ – George moans and for once nothing comes over the horizon to the rescue.
- ‘Because‘ – The gorgeous harmonies do not save it.
- ‘Across The Universe‘ – The ‘Let It Be‘ mix sucks so badly.
- ‘Across The Universe‘ – The ‘Past Masters‘ mix sucks so badly (i’m ignoring the German tracks).

This was hard but I will give it a crack.
1. Hold Me Tight – I struggle to get through this song.
2. Baby, You’re A Rich Man – I can’t get into this song. I know a lot of people don’t mind it but I don’t care for it.
3. Across The Universe (Wildlife Version) – This version of this song get’s on my nerves.
4. Little Child – This song also get’s on my nerves.
5. Dig It – A long jam was turned into a pointless filler.
6. Kansas City / Hey Hey Hey Hey – I wish the album version of this song had some energy. They just sound bored.
7. Maggie Mae – More pointless filler from the Let It Be record.
8. She’s A Woman – I like the chorus but I hate the verses and I hate how Paul sings during the verses as well.
9. Mr. Moonlight – My opinion on this song has softened as I like the vocal performance but the song is still a weak on.
10. Your Mother Should Know – I wish this song had more going for it as it is probably one of the more boring songs from 1967.
11. Don’t Pass Me By – Probably my least favourite Ringo song.
12. P.S I Love You – Another song that get’s on my nerves as well.
13. Blue Jay Way – The song is interesting but get’s boring rather quickly.
14. Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby – Just like Kansas City they sound bored on this one.
I hated including so many tracks from Beatles For Sale as I love that record but in my opinion the covers aren’t their strongest on that album. I didn’t think too much about the tracklist and kind of made it up as I went. As much as I consider these songs to be weak I still listen to these songs.
And in the end the lunch you take is equal to the lunch you bake.

I’ll Try This
Dizzy Miss Lizzy – Worst Beatles song I could think of, but would make a pretty good opener.
Maxwell’s Silver Hammer – Kind of a notorious Beatles song, but it is actually a good song, revealing how good this album is about to be.
Chains – Probably the least likely Beatles song to get stuck in your head.
Kansas City /Hey Hey Hey – Beatles For Sale is crazy underrated, but this song gives haters reason to doubt.
I honestly could only do an EP. and I love Maxwell’s.

Why include Maxwell’s Silver Hammer if you like the song, wouldn’t it make more sense to include another song you dislike.

I would, but there is no such thing.
Maybe Bad Boy could replace it.

I’m surprised at the dislike for Across The Universe . The Past Masters version is probably in my top 10 Beatles songs. It’s just so ethereal and has some of John’s best lyrics (even he said so)

It is some of his best lyrics. I like the Let It Be and Anthology 2 versions of the song but the Wildlife fund version irritates me. I think it is mostly due to the backing vocals in the song.
