I walked in Spain with my sandals off as it was roasting. It’s actually quite relaxing when you get used to the feeling so I can see why Paul would (and it’s not that ’owwwww my feet are on fire’ feeling).
Out of interest. If you’re dead how does your body hold clothes and shoes in place as don’t we lose the physical form that would do so? And can your feet get wet if dead? Do they carry umbrellas and wearing Wellington boots? Seems a lot of hassle. And how do you pay for them, for one you can’t go and get a job (cop).

Maybe you’re dead too.
You can wear the clothes after you die as they’re only a dead weight (ho Ho Ho He He He Ha Ha Ha).
