@Bongo the whole deluxe is on YouTube. There are errors with Come Together + take 5 and Something in the playlist at the moment, but they can be found elsewhere on the Beatles Vevo.

It’s funny…..
I remember being nearly 17 and getting Abbey Road ……and excitedly rushing back and playing it on our old Pye stereo in the front room……..
I was disappointed ………Firstly nothing of interest to study on the cover……..After Sgt Pepper and the White Album inserts that was a let down.
On first hearing there were no stand out songs from John or Paul…..A couple of nice songs from George, and I liked the guitar intro to Octopuses’ Garden and wondered if it was Eric……But I didn’t like the song much….
The Album sounded nice…..That was all.
Of course I played it over and over…….The bits and pieces came together but still no John or Paul songs I wanted to learn and play….Disappointing.
Now I like it a lot……Ironically the cover has become their most famous …..maybe?…..
And now with the deluxe edition……all the interesting photos and writings I wanted those 50 years ago have beautifully appeared……
I’m glad I lived through the 60s…..wouldn’t swop it…..BUT….
How exciting it would be for a youngster to get an introduction to the Beatles via this deluxe edition today……

I’m currently listening to this. Via Youtube with shitty earphones
Under this circumstances i felt not much difference between the original and this new remix (currently in Octopus’s Garden ), except for Octopus’s Garden which i found dspecially brilliant and vibrant. I felt like Sponge Bob himself between those bubbly sounds… and the backgorund vocals are quite more upfront and shiny…
Oh, and the begining of I want you…. … sounds pretty soft…

I heard the first three tracks using the headphone jack on my computer monitor. which I forgot has an effect of focusing on voices and quiets everything else.
WAIT A MINUTE WE CAN SWEAR ON THE FORUM?!?!?!?!?!
after I switched to my phone which has a much better sound quality (dammit, i love living in the future), i noticed that the noise at the end doesn’t become as all-encompassing as I’m used to from ’09, so the loudness/heaviness towards the end of the song which causes the swap over to Here Comes The Sun (on CD because on vinyl you’d have to flip over) to feel like a *snap!* over, but it just kinda feels like a simple transition rather than a jump. it felt like it was going into a loud meditative state of raw desire and then snap soft guitar jumping you out. it felt raw, shocking and a had the right amount of fun to it.
i guess i should set up a signature soon? maybe?

Have heard up to take 5 of ‘Come Together ‘ so initial thoughts of those I have heard.
The two takes of ‘IWY (SSH)’ are great, love John’s vocal on the first and the band playing is fabulous. It’s just a massive pity that they have been joined together, and with such a dreadful edit. Apple should have bitten the bullet and given us the complete takes.
Love the outtakes of ‘TBOJAY’, ‘OBS’ and ‘HCTS’, much fun and interesting. The kind of stuff I really want.
Paul’s vocal on ‘YNGMYM’ is awful, he’s clearly not singing it seriously and it sounds like the final take when the band have reached the end and are going thru the motions. The bands playing is great tho and it’s a shame it just fades out instead of plays thru. The same can be said for his vocal on ‘Oh! Darling ‘.
‘MSH’ is very similar to the ‘Anthology 3 ‘ outtake. I can see why it drove George and Ringo mad having to keep on recording it.
No idea why we get only get a minute and half outtake of ‘Octopus’s Garden ‘.
‘GS/CTW’ is decent but it’s far more ‘GS’ only whilst ‘Her Majesty ‘ is one of those that it’s good to have.
I love having outtakes and despite the issues above, I’m delighted to have them all, but the set really would benefit from more content. It feels like Apple settled on a number for the set, 40, and stuck to it regardless of what there was to include. The two discs can easily hold far more material so why not give us more. ‘Pepper’ and ‘TWA’ have multiple versions of different takes which makes it even more disappointing that this is what we have.
I have the early edit of the long medley as well and this is exceptional, tho they were right to remove ‘HM’ from it as it killed the pacing.

Not a fan of the deluxe packaging. I bent a cd sleeve trying to remove it.Also the person who put my book in the slipcover dog-eared the first page so it was creased when I opened it.
Are they like the CD sleeves in Pepper and White? Those can be buggers to remove from their placement.

Called The Beatles store to see if they would replace the defective box. They said I would have to buy a box to shop it back in plus insurance. Then wait a week for them to receive the item. Then another week for the replacement. Worst customer service ever.

What can you expect from a company that still hasn’t discounted their 2019 calendar yet? 😉
Send them an email back telling them that due to their appalling customer service, in future you’ll spend your hard-earned money on a competitor’s website, if they have any good management and care about customer loyalty, they’ll waive the fees, if you don’t hear back they’re a shoddy company and you know who not to deal with in the future.
In a digital world where you’re fighting for market share, I don’t know why you’d treat customers like that. Especially as buying from the official website has an added premium on it as generally Amazon is cheaper and actually have brilliant customer service (even though they do treat their employees like paid slaves).

I received my super deluxe boxset 3 days ago and have had some time to listen and digest. I was happy to read some dissenting opinions above (like @DoubleG’s) because it would certainly be less interesting if everyone had the same opinion as me: I think the 2019 mixes sound incredible. However, I have not yet done A/B tests so I can’t yet say which I like better. It was obvious with Sgt. Pepper and White Album , but less so with Abbey Road . After all, it already sounded amazing. Perfect even.
I did a double-take during Mean Mr. Mustard because Paul’s bassline stands out, and I was sure for a second that they had used the Moog to get that sound. I see it was fuzz bass, but it really sounds like the fat bassline of a Moog.
I thought Because (one of my favorites) sounded better too, and wasn’t expecting much to be improved on that one. Again, I hope to A/B test this weekend.
Regarding the outtakes, I think Preston’s organ in I Want You (She’s So Heavy) just sounds incredible and I wish it hadn’t been covered by white noise is the original mix.
Goodbye was a new song to me, and I LOVE IT. I said something similar with the White Album reissue, but I find it still true listening to Abbey Road again: Paul really is a talented mofo! As a lifelong John lover, I’ve come to realize over the years that Paul was truly the talent and the other Beatles (and the world!) were lucky to have him. He just comes up with the best melodies, almost effortlessly. What also shines through (to me) is his dedication to the music itself, which would have floundered if it had been left up to John or George at that time.
Paul also seemed to have wisdom beyond his years. Maybe it’s just because I’m older now, but when I listen to Golden Slumbers it almost makes me tear up. It just seems too powerful, yet sweet, for a 20-something to have written. I do wish he would have let John take a crack or two at Oh! Darling .
Anyways, back to the set – I agree with @meanmistermustard that the track listing is a bit anemic. I love what’s presented, but can’t help but feel like there must be oooooooone more disc hidden somewhere with more content!
The instrumentals at the end of disc 3 are wonderful as well, especially Something . The overall presentation is quite nice, though why does the box have to be a different size than the previous anniversary sets? That was a poor decision.
Has anyone had a chance to listen to the Atmos mix yet?
All in all, I’m happy with it and hope to see a Let It Be anniversary boxset next year too! Hell, do all the albums one at a time. Giles and Sam can just make a career of it until we get back around the catalog to Revolver and Magical Mystery Tour . I’ll buy ’em! Cheers and happy listening everyone.

I don’t support Amazon. They treat their workers like slaves, they don’t pay taxes, and they broke their movie contract with my favorite director, Woody Allen, over baseless accusations that were proven untrue decades ago.

Dear all, I was a little bit concerned when I read the critical reviews here. Still, had to buy the super deluxe issue, of course. Listened to it last night against the 2009 remastered version, with my monitor headphones.
What can I say? For me the differences are positive throughout. The sound is clearer, brighter, more transparent and balanced in general. What is most striking to me is the better panning of the drums. Ringo’ s fills and tom breaks now have a real stereo feel. This was for me especially evident in „You never give…“, „Bathroom window“, „Golden Slumbers “ and „Carry That Weight “… but that are just first impressions, If I can find the time, I would like to make real A/B comparisons…
