Pre-ordered for £80. Time will tell if it's money well spent, but I can't imagine it won't be.

Anything ‘new’ with the Fabs is a must buy. We won’t regret the purchase. Beatles stuff is all I mainly listen to, so I’m over the moon.

New member...  I see that the hardback book is not available with teh vinyl set or as a separate purchase.  It seems like a neat thing to have.

For those with an interest in such things, the first 2 playback sessions (morning and afternoon) were held at Manhatten's Dolby Theater in New York yesterday.

Two previews out so far; one [AnalogPlanet] from the morning playback, where they had some sound issues, and the other [Variety] from the afternoon playback.

Didn't know about this at all until I just read the thread. Welp, there go my savings again stuart-sutcliffe

edit: Also thank god for a site like this where I can reach the video stuff I want to see instead of googling the tsunami of reaction videos that are out there now, its gone insane. Also also, if you're using Joe's tag and it gets lost in clicking around urls, the magic tag itself is

&tag=beatlesbible-22

and if you check the url and it's not there, a good place to put it is right after another '&' tag like

&s=gateway&tag=beatlesbible-22

. That way, you can be sure Joe gets some commission!

New remix of Oh Darling. I'm so happy John and George's backing vocals (my favourite part of the song) have been brought up in the mix a little more. a-hard-days-night-john-6ahdn_george_08

Admittedly I have heard Something and HCTS when friends played them around me, but I think we're on the same page otherwise

I have been playing some of the songs in my head, so I’m not sure if that counts.

I think this is the link: Link

The one he posted here

By the way, it's so interesting to know that John wanted to include equal number of George's songs...and that comment about Maxwell silver's hammer... so spot on. I then wonder why they refused so many George's songs for the Leti it be project.

Wonder what happened finally that turned it out completely different as John intended

Thanks so much for adjusting the link.....I'd copied and pasted from the other less relevant thread......

You'll recall that 'Let it Be' predates this discussion.......Even though it was released later.

I thought what was especially interesting was John's suggestion that the songs could be credited individually .........Instead of Lennon McCartney.......Whoever writes it gets sole credit..........

Quite a turn-up.

Yeah, right. But i thought that was an idea that doesn't come overnight.

Where did Mark get that tape? is there any transcription of the whole conversation?

While it does seem a remarkable tape, and so far as I know not in general circulation, it should also be noted it took place on the 8 September, days before John and the Plastic Ono Band performed in Toronto, which led to John declaring on 20 September at another Beatles meeting at Savile Row that he was leaving the group and wanted a "divorce". It would be more surprising had it been after the 20th.

I would also imagine that, as with many relationships toward the end, there are moments of vacillating and perhaps this was a moment where he thought that a more democratically aligned album acknowledging the songwriting reality would be a viable path forward.  It's kind of a delicious 'what might have been' exercise to think on this.

This is probably the only album on which McCartney doesn't have a classic song - even though his fingerprints are all over the album, especially the medley.

Anyone have any idea why Let It Be might not have been placed on the album? It had been recorded 8 months earlier and was still sitting in a can.

Imagine Abbey Road with Let It Be instead of Maxwell's SH.
