I got this message when I tried to open the file. "You need permission Want in? Ask for access, or switch to an account with permission." Does that look right? Should I just request access?

Yeah, I thought that might happen. I uploaded it to my school account because I get free unlimited storage on that account but recently they changed the policy so I can't share to people outside my school's email address. I'm uploading it to my spare account and will post the link here when it's done

https://drive.google.com/file/.....sp=sharing <--- that link should work

^That link worked.

Makes me wish for the drums isolated on that whole compilation.

Someone said 'What were you gonna do when it's all finished,' and I said 'I don't know but it'd be good fun being a DJ.' And since then I've become a DJ, only by word of mouth, you know. SO any minute now you'll read, 'Ringo leaves to become a DJ' but it's not true. - Ringo Starr

this is my first post (hello, everyone. i'm josh. nice to meet you all.) and this album is a really hard thing to rank. first of all, i'm counting the medley as one thing because it doesn't feel right to not do that. anyways, on to the ranking:

1. Something -This song is amazing, it makes me feel like I'm Floating on air. Sinatra said it best though "The best love song in 50 or 100 years, and he never says I love you"

2. Because     -The harpsichord just feels unreal and the harmony gives me chills every time.

3. Medley      -Again, this is impossible for me to think of as separate entities. If I want to listen to them individually I go to the longer anthology versions (not all of the songs in the medley have anthology versions though). This medley feels like a great goodbye. Concluding with the phrase "The love you take is equal to the love you make" feels right. And it makes you pause to reflect on the magnitude of what you just witnessed... and then BANG! Her Majesty kicks in and the first time listener is probably a little confused, but I always felt it was sort of saying "the band is over, but the love is never over" or something like that

4. Octopus Garden -Care free and beautiful. And pretty mind blowing considering it was Ringo's second song ever.

5. Come together -Ringo's drumming in this makes the song. Unless you're listening for drumming, you may not notice it right away. But I cannot imagine this song would be as good with the drumming any different.

6. I Want You (She's So Heavy)       -This song is easy to get lost in. It's difficult to explain what I mean by that. But just how the noise fills in towards the end I sort of drift away almost into a meditative state and the only thing that wakes me is the next track. If I were to reorder Abbey Road , I think my only change would be to swap this with Here Comes The Sun which puts because right after this. it would extend the sort of meditative state.

7. Here Comes The Sun       -I heard this song a lot as a kid, I didn't even know it was a Beatles song until after I got deep into the band. It's the only Beatle song I listened to without the bias of knowing that it was by one of the greatest groups of all time. And I think I like it more because of that. No Beatle-bias attached, just my owned formed opinion. it's beautiful. that's the only way I can describe it is that it's beautiful. And now, my opinion with the Beatle-bias: I wish George Martin put in that damned solo.

8.Oh! Darling -Honestly, it's the one i forget about the most. nothing against the song, it's just the one i remember the least. but it's not like "i forget about it and it's a nice surprise", it's just "oh yeah, forgot about this one." I do love Paul's singing in it though.

9.Maxwell's Silver Hammer -This is my least favourite track on the album. It's a little too catchy and it sort of makes me feel exhausted after. I love Paul's music to death, but this one just feels like a little too much work was put into it.

That's the best I got. It took me a little while to think about. This album is just too hard to rank, and I'm so glad I decided to keep the medley as its own entity. I probably could have written a longer post if I tried, but this is already too long.

Welcome, @joshthenesnerd! apple01

That's an interesting assessment, thank you.  I agree that Abbey Road is a difficult album to rank in terms of its songs.

Nice to see Octopus's Garden placed highly.  I think Ringo's songwriting abilities are often overlooked, but he has written or co-written several great songs - usually with a little help from a friend or two.

I hope you enjoy exploring this site and forum.

It's been a while that I have listened to Abbey Road a-hard-days-night-ringo-6 yeah I know.. but I think it's time to do it again since Spring is coming and it's a sunny album.. if you know what I mean.

But it's with The White Album one of my favorites. I'll have to make my ranking soon.

Abbey Road was the first studio album I've ever listened to, and it may be my favorite Beatles album. I need to listen to all of them again soon.

Here's my ranking with the medley as one song:

1. Abbey Road medley: If this was one song, it would be my favorite song of all time. It's just mind-blowing. My favorite songs from the medley are Golden Slumbers and You Never Give Me Your Money . I don't really like Sun King though.

2. Here Comes The Sun : Like many people, I heard it a lot as a kid and I always loved it. I love it even more now, and I'll never get tired of it. I just love George's voice.a-hard-days-night-george-9

3.  Oh! Darling : PAUL'S VOCALS heart

4. Something : Same as #2 but I didn't like that much it as a child. It's my mom's favorite.

5. Come Together : I love everything about it but I've heard it hundreds of times...

6. Octopus's Garden : Better than Yellow Submarine , and I love Yellow Submarine .

7. Because : Not one of my favorites, but I love how it sounds creepy, yet comforting at the same time.

8. I Want You (She's So Heavy): Great but WAY TOO LONG.

9. Maxwell's Silver Hammer : I don't dislike it. At all. In fact, I like it more than most other happy songs about murder.

Okay, now I really need to stop procrastinating. paul-mccartney Thank you if you read the whole thing.

I remember being so amazed at the medley that I felt like telling my Dad about it, who actually grew up the Beatles as a kid, and still had the vinyl.

Beacuse of this thread, I went through the whole album again.

My ranking(Warning: It's LONG)

1. Something : Instant classic with one of the most elegant melodies. You can truly feel the affection and pining in George's voice when he sings the lyrics. Also great combination of guitar, bass and drums.

2. Abbey Road Medley: We all have so much affection for this piece. It's not only their genius of song arrangement that impresses me–in the band's final work, they seem to be making a grand farewell: though there's grudge(YNGMYM), they used to dream together(early-sound tracks in the middle), and they want to leave best wishes and spirits for each other, for all of us(the last 3 tracks)

3. I Want You(She's So Heavy): This song has a special magic to me since I first heard the album. It shows the Beatles' greatness of turning the most simple words into a mantra of love. When it comes to the latter half, instruments create a picture of storm roaring over the ocean under the dark sky, and you're to be rolled in. Never get tired of it.

4. Here Comes The Sun : George presented his most marvelous works on this album. Right after I Want You, it gives me the impression of the storm dying out and the sun shining brightly. Every time I hear “Sun, sun, sun, here it comes” and those uplifting guitar chords I feel sheer joy.

5. Come Together : Groovy, interesting lyrics, and I love to hear John singing it. Though the first half sounds a bit dreary.

6. Because : The melody borrowed from classic music, it sounds pure and even sacred with those chorus.

7. Oh! Darling : Wild yet sincere–Paul's screaming is so powerful, piano, guitar and drumming all passionate.

8. Octopus's Garden : Applause for Ringo, for such a lovely piece. He contributes simple joy when this album easily gets me emotional.

9. Maxwell's Silver Hammer : Funny? Maybe, but funny is all it is.

Abbey Road is among my top 3 Beatles albums, and...I've written so much about it. Thanks for reading *bows*

Bit of an idiosyncratic method of ranking here: Splitting the big medley into two ("Medley A" and "Medley Bbey") and further sub-ranking the individual songs within those.

1. "Medley A"

  I.  ...Money

  II. Sun King

  III. Pam

  IV. Mustard

  V. Bathroom Window

2. Come Together

3. Here Comes The Sun

4. Something

5. I Want You

6. "Medley Bbey"

   I. The End

   II. Golden Slumbers

   III. Carry That Weight

7. Because

8. Octopus' Garden

9. Oh! Darling

10. Maxwell

11. Her Majesty

Do the songs in the sub-rankings still fit into their place within the overall ranking, or would they be lower down on their own?

Tall, dark-haired QuarryMan likes basketball, music, and naturally, boys. He was a valuable participant on the track team. He is one of Freeport's great contributors to the recording world. As for the immediate future, QuarryMan has no plans, but will take life as it comes.

I'd say that yes, with the possible exception of "In The End ", all eight of those medley fragments would appear lower on the list.
