Paul McCartney was among the celebrity guests appearing on the 40th anniversary special of Saturday Night Live.
The former Beatle performed an impromptu acoustic duet with Paul Simon of ‘I’ve Just Seen A Face’ with a performance of ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’. The performance was introduced by Keith Richards:

The three-hour SNL40 special was recorded at NBC Studios in Manhattan, New York City. The night before, McCartney had performed a surprise show for 1,000 people at Irving Plaza.
SNL40 was kicked off by Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake. Other guests included Steve Martin, Tom Hanks, Justin Timberlake, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Billy Crystal, Bradley Cooper, Taylor Swift, Eddie Murphy, and SNL creator Lorne Michaels. Other musical performances were by Paul Simon, Miley Cyrus and Kanye West.

Poor Paul was reaching a little bit for those high notes on “Maybe I’m Amazed”, but still pulled it off with the band sounding marvelous!
I thought the same, maybe another song would have fitted better, but “Maybe I’m Amazed” is a damn good song.
