George Harrison to get Hollywood Walk of Fame star

George Harrison is to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame later this month.

The Beatles' guitarist will be honoured posthumously at a Los Angeles ceremony to unveil the star. His wife Olivia and son Dhani will accept the honour on his behalf.

The ceremony is to take place on 14 April at 11.30am PST, on the Walk of Fame at 1750 Vine Street, in front of the Capitol Records building, and will be open to the public.

Harrison, who died of cancer in 2001, already shares a Walk of Fame star with the other three Beatles, but only he and John Lennon will have their own stars. Harrison's star will be the 2,382nd on the Walk.

Capitol/EMI says it also plans to announce details for a new Harrison music project later this month. Martin Scorsese is also directing a forthcoming documentary on Harrison.

I’m so glad to see George Harrison receiving recognition for his many contributions to the arts and the world.
It would be fitting for Great Britain to honor him with a knighthood for his valiant efforts as a humanitarian, film maker and gardener extraordinaire.

Im so happy to see this! I always wondered why the beatles didnt get their own individual stars… I didnt know John had one! And now George, Im glad hes being recognized for his musical contributions! Not just to the beatles, either, but everywhere!

Just curious, why no article on the unveiling of George’s Walk of Fame Star? I THOUGHT that would be even more interesting article to write than some others in here, considering Paul was present at George’s unveiling ceremony and yet never had a chance to make public appearance for his own – considering he’s been offered back in 1991, and the nomination “lapsed” in 1998 due to his ‘continuing failure’ to arrange public appearance for the unveiling ceremony.

I personally feel Paul is dodging his own Hollywood Walk of Fame star until all his Beatles Brothers are honored.
