Recording, mixing: Dream by Ringo Starr

Studio Two, EMI Studios, Abbey Road
Producer: George Martin
Engineers: Phil McDonald, Geoff Emerick

Ringo Starr’s version of Johnny Mercer’s song ‘Dream’ had been begun on 14 November 1970, when the basic backing track and vocals were recorded. A rough mix was prepared on 18 November, but the song wasn’t completed until this day.

The recording session lasted from 7-9.20pm. George Martin conducted a new arrangement for a 15-piece orchestra, which included trumpet, trombone, French horn and vibraphone.

At the end of the evening, from 9.20-10.30pm, the finished recording of ‘Dream’ was mixed in stereo.
