Live: Guildhall, Portsmouth

This was the 20th and penultimate date of The Beatles' 1963 tour of England with Tommy Roe and Chris Montez. They played at the venue on one other subsequent occasion, on 3 December 1963.

The Beatles performed a setlist of six songs on this tour: Love Me Do, Misery, A Taste Of Honey, Do You Want To Know A Secret, Please Please Me and I Saw Her Standing There.

The Beatles returned to Portsmouth's Guildhall on one other occasion. Their concert originally scheduled for 12 November 1963 had been postponed after Paul McCartney fell ill with gastric flu, but eventually took place on 3 December that year.

This is my memory, am I right, the beatles were on the first half of the show, then sat at the back of the Portsmouth guildhall to watch part of the second half. I can remember a man in a white suit topping the bill, who I thought was Billy Fury.but was it Tommy roe or chris montez

I think my dad played on this bill ?. He is Lenny Woods former band member in ‘the classics’. He played in the same bill as the Beatles at the guildhall, and met them backstage. Any info, posters, tickets would be great-full, thanks.

The Beatles closed the first half of the show. Tommy Roe and Chris Montez performed in the second half. Chris Montez closed the show after removing his shirt. I missed the all but the last two numbers of the second half as I was collecting the Beatles autographs on my programme. Sold them for £7000.recently best investment ever.
