Although they made an unannounced live appearance in January 1969 on the rooftop of the Apple building, The Beatles’ final live concert took place on 29 August 1966 at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, California.
With their 1965 tour of North America complete, The Beatles flew back to London on the evening of 1 September. They landed at London Airport (later renamed Heathrow) the following morning.
The Beatles gave two performances at the Cow Palace in San Francisco on this day. It was the 10th and final stop on their 1965 tour of North America.
Although they had performed shows in New York, Washington DC and Miami in February 1964, this was The Beatles’ first proper tour of America.
On this day The Beatles flew from London Airport to San Francisco International, to begin their 25-date first American Tour.
