When I jam with my friends I almost always sing Paul's part. Even when I'm just singing along I typically go for Paul's lead or harmony. Not unlike others, I love trying to stick with just one vocal part for a whole song or album. Sometimes I'm in a John mood, but I hardly ever go out of my way to sing George or Ringo's parts. (Although, on an unrelated note, I do learn both John and George's guitar parts to a song and play them separately depending on what I feel like.)

I love singing, and not to brag, but I'm a pretty good singer. I like to sing lead and harmonies, and there's not specifically one Beatle whose part I stick to. I'm a soprano, though, so some songs' vocal parts are too low for me. I usually don't sing those songs at all, because it just sounds weird when I sing an octave higher. Or I'll sing the higher harmonies on them.

I used to always sing John's parts, but after doing some singing in choirs and learning to sing harmonies from my mother I found that I had a tenor voice (not an extremely high tenor but a tenor nonetheless) and so it naturally gravitated to Paul's higher harmony lines. Some Paul songs are exceedingly hard to sing but I quite enjoy practicing them until I can reach the higher notes.

Though I like to sing, and I sing my own songs, I find I can't do justice to the songs I like from the Beatles. One strange phenomenon I notice is that a given melody will sound high, but when I try to match it with my voice, my voice can only seem to hit what seems to be an octave above -- and yet if I try to lower it an octave below, it's obviously way too deep.

"Hello Goodbye" and "Penny Lane" are typical of this phenomenon. It's like Paul is singing high, and yet not high at the ...
