Regarding the Ronettes, they were in NYC when the Beatles arrived. If you watch the First U.S. Visit documentary, Ronnie is in it with Murray the K and the Ronettes reported visited the Fabs at the Plaza.

Damn. I read something about this quite recently, but can't remember where. If it comes back to me I'll pass on the info. I presume you know the story about him being so nervous of flying that he paced up and down the aeroplane throughout the flight - Ringo quipped that he'd "walked to America".

The Phil Spector entry here is interesting, but I've wondered for a while now: Why was Phil on the same flight as the Beatles when they made their first U.S. visit? Was it sheerly coincidence? Did he go along just to be part of the scene? Did he have designs on producing the Fabs?

Has anyone read an incredible accounts on this specifically? Everything I see just says "Phil was on the flight," but not why.
