Summer is almost here and so are vacations. I don’t have a lot of plans in that area, but I did visit The Musical Intruments Museum today to see the piano on which John wrote ‘Imagine ‘. And here it is!:

With your headphones on, you hear a very short clip from this video:

So does anyone have Beatles related travel planned this year? Or pictures from vacations past?

Ooh, very cool!

I’m not sure if it really counts as vacation* but I’ll be going to Abbey Road and 3 Savile Row this summer, probably the beginning of June.  Oh, and the Macca gig in Cardiff.

…I have pictures from a weekend I spent in Liverpool in February, if anyone’s interested.

*My best mate here is an archaeology grad student; I’m an English lit grad student.  He needs to do research at the British Museum and asked if I would tag along for a weekend.  We’re both American(ish for me.  I’m both.), and I know my way around/have plenty still to see, so I’m useful.

That’s so cool! I envy you both.

I would love to go to Liverpool someday, but for now I’m grounded in good ol’ Colorado. a-hard-days-night-ringo-12A trip to New York on John’s birthday would also make me a very happy Beatles fan. I just have to get the folks on board…

I now declare this bridge open!

Summer is almost here… for the Northern Hemisphere maybe! Down Under it’s coming up to winter so no long holidays for us. It’s better though, we get our summer holiday at the end of the year for Christmas and New Year.

Oops! Sorry, I really should have known better. But feel free to post pictures from any vacation of interest.

jenn – Hmm, er, um… yes. Yes, I would like to see photos of your trip to Liverpool in February.

Okay…making it public was easier than uploading the photos somewhere else.  Sorry to be a Facebook tool.

A Sgt. Pepper cake?! * Nylons with their faces on them? Chibi Paul? So much weird.a-hard-days-night-ringo-6These are great! And you can just drive there for the weekend.

* I’m a sucker for Beatles baked goods.

Haha, yes indeed.  That was in the window of a bakery inside Liverpool Central train station.  As for driving, it’s a bit of a long trek by British standards, but yeah…rather lucky.

I’d forgotten about the tattoo pictures.  Do excuse my ankle.

Jenn – thanks for sharing those pics – really lovely to see them.

On the description for the pic of the gravestone for Eleanor Rigby on the first page, you say it was a prop from a film. Could you tell us a bit more about that?

I definitely need to go back to Liverpool. I’m not planning any Beatles-related trips, though I’m seeing Paul live in Cardiff next month. My dad and I have been talking about going to Hamburg at some point – it’s a city we’ve both always wanted to visit, though he doesn’t share my love of all things Beatle!

Can buy me love! Please consider supporting the Beatles Bible on Amazon
Or buy my paperback/ebook! Riding So High – The Beatles and Drugs

Don't miss The Bowie Bible – now live!

I can’t with any certainly, unfortunately.  It was part of the audio guide and just opposite was the Sgt Pepper room where the title track was playing on loop, and half a life-size Yellow Submarine was immediately to the left of that…so it was difficult to hear and cope with the sensory overload.  I checked with a friend, and even she couldn’t recall, though she did remember it saying it was from a film.  (Dunno how – the two motion pictures preceded Revolver , unless it was in Magical Mystery, which I haven’t seen.)  I’m stumped, mate.

Macca gig at the Millennium Stadiuuuum.  Get in!

Stealing would not look good on his Daily Brink.

Reporter: I heard you stole an Abbey Road sign for your brother.

Audience Member: That was you?

Reporter: And you graffitied on a wall.

Your brother: Ahhhh!

Then the police come.
