I doubt Ringo would take offense, seeing as it's apparently the truth - he had the idea for the song on Peter Sellers' yacht in the sunny climes of Sardinia, when the ship's captain told him that octopi often find shiny or interesting bits of debris on the seabed and use them to make "gardens" in front of their caves.

Me, I like that particular pairing ("Let it Be"/"You Know My Name") - it's similar to "Eleanor Rigby"/"Yellow Submarine" in its juxtoposition of the sublime with the ridiculous, showing off the incredible range these guys had.

The '66 and '67 Christmas messages have weird strange moments, very funny but weird and strange. Probably the best two of the 7. I love the Podgy and Jasper sketch ('66) and John and George's mock quiz ('67). Or Tiny Tim doing Nowhere Man in 1968.

I need to get listening to them before Christmas is over.

Its a credit to Jane Asher that she hasnt sold her story for hundreds of thousands of pounds when many hacks with far lesser roles who were nowhere near as close to the four and have much lesser stories to tell have. She must have a ton of dirt on how Paul was off bonking 18 year olds whilst she was working or at home.

Sometimes I wish she would write a tell-all book about Paul and the Beatles, but ultimately I really, really respect her for retaining her dignity by not doing so. She seems very wise and won't stoop to ...

I think those views were also part of the time period; the woman was expected to stay at home in the kitchen whilst the man was out earning the wage. One of the things that annoyed Paul about Jane was that she was a determined actress who wasnt always there at his beck and call as can be seen in tracks like I'm Looking Thru You and You Wont See Me. "Wild Honey Pie" is a very strange song. Thank God it's only 30 seconds because I wouldn't like it if it was longer. In the seemingly innocent "All Together Now," there is the line, "Black, white, green, red, can I take my friend to bed?"

Oh my gosh, I never thought about it in that way. I just thought he was imaginig kissing her.

I won't get started on the ugliness that is "Run For Your Life." I thought it was a catchy tune when I was a kid, and then I paid attention to the lyrics. Can't listen to it now.
